Falling back on bed when getting up.

For the last couple of weeks when I try to get out of bed I fall back on the bed. It happened four times this morning before I could get up. What could be the cause of this or does or did it happen to anyone else. Thanks.

It could be a sudden fall in blood pressure ,and it could be something  like a mini stroke.   You should consult your doctor for a proper diagnosis.  This could develop into something worse, and early diagnosis is essential.

It happened to one of my friends. He went to the Doc who diagnosed after his Halter test that his BP drops when he tries to get up. You must see the Doc to find a solution. However while getting out of bed, one should always sit for 2-3 mins and then get up.

Thank you for that reply, I tried that this morning and it did help. Thank you. Did your friend get treatment from his doctor for this or was he put on medication.

Nice to learn that you have benefited with what I suggested. In fact, sitting for a short while before getting up particularly in the morning is recommended at least for all aged person like me. My friend was also prescribed a medication after his Halter test in Cardiology Hospital indicated this issue. I will ask him which medicine/treatment was prescribed to him for low BP and inform you about it. Good luck.

      Ref my last notification.

My friend has told me that his problem was when he tried to stand up suddenly, he would feel dizzi and fall down. He consulted the Doc looking after him for heart problem. This particular issue is called postural hypo tension. A suitable medication was prescribed to him and he has been feeling better. I asked him the details of treatment which he has not given so far; possibly thinking that his case may be different as he was already being treated for heart problem. I will fwd the details to you if at all he gives me further info.

I suggest you do need consultation especially if your problem persists for a longer period. Good luck.

    Hi,

If you feel very weak for a longer time, you should definitely consult your doctor. As, feeling weakness can be caused due to various reasons.

If you will ask about the food then,

Drink plenty of Water, as preventing dehydration is the best way to keep away fatigue

Have a protein rich healthy breakfast, very much necessary to keep you up throughout the day.

Add Dry fruits ( Almonds, Cashew nuts )in your eating habit.

Some simple foods like Honey kind of energy drink, Banana for an extra boost, Apples high in fiber energy boosters.

Beans great source of iron and fiber, to keep you cholesterol level down and provide energy.

Egg and fish strong boosters of your health

Besides all this, concentrate on your mental health, sometimes when you are not happy or stressed, it directly affects your stamina and physical health too. Which leads you to feel weak even when you are biologically fit or having proper diet.

So be happy, be active, increase your stamina. Keep all stress, tensions and problems aside and do what makes you happy for now. Take out time for your hobbies.

It automatically will charge you up.  smile
