hi recently a family member passed away in a horrific way I truly believe the sertraline killed someone very close to me and I don't know who to turn to about this. This person was a very out going happy person and was very well liked by a lot of people.had a very good job as a manager had a lovely home and lovely cars and a beautiful family around them and loved life to the full.the funeral was massive which is a testament to the type of person they where. It started with stress from a job that turned to depression so we went to the doctors and they gave 50mg of sertraline week 1 had 3 good days so went back to the doctors and the doctor said we will up the dose to 100mg see if we can get 4 good days out of you. Week 2 no good days week 3 no good days sleepless nights, sweating, traipsing back and for, no emotion being shown, lost intrested in every thing, suicidal thoughts all the sever signs you can get from sertraline back to the doctors they upped the dose to 150mg still no improvement and suicidal attempts once in week 5 then once in week 6 week.Went to the doctors in the day and they rated 3 out of 10.about 5 0clock that day we took them to ward 14 to get him sectioned but was told their not a risk to themselves or anyone else and was rated 5 out of 10 and sent home Week 7 the doctor upped the dose to 200mg which in 5 days after my beloved family member was found dead in a horrific way all in a matter of 7 weeks I truly believe the sertraline took there life. I only now started reading about the tablets and wish I read up on them before I could have got them off the sertraline

I'm sorry for your loss but please do not scare other people! You can't state that Sertaline killed someone. Lots of people take it every day and helps them to live their life on the normal way. Unfortunately it isn't for everyone but to say that it killed someone.... I'm not sure if it's right.

Hi I'm not trying to scare anyone I know sirtraline works for some people and not others.it did not work for my family member it made it worse for them and the doctor should have known the side effects and not kept uping the dose.the only reason the doctor upped the dose to 200mg was because the doctor was going away on holiday and wouldn't see my family member for 3 weeks.i personally think that is wrong and we are suffering for trusting in the doctor.these tablets are no good in my opinion!!

I took sertraline, I was on 50mg to start with but I was not sleeping and having major depressive episodes that I wanted to die so they put the dosage to 100mg but again it wasn't doing anything, it made me paranoid, I could hear voices and they were telling me to do things, I tried telling my doctor but she told me to stay on it longer to see if it improves but I knew that if I stayed on it any longer, I won't be alive. I just took myself of them, it took me so much effort just to talk to my doctor and then she wouldn't listen so now I refuse to take them. Everyone reacts differently on them, my sister is fine on them and so is my brother, yes everyone in my family are on them but me i heard voices and became suicidal. I don't like sertraline, I believe they are awful medication and they have terrible side effects but so so all medications and they work great for other people. I just hope one day they will find me meds what work for me
