Farxiga for T2 Diabetes

Does anyone take Farxiga? I could not tolerate Metformin, so my doctor changed my medication to Farxiga a couple of months ago. It has lowered my AlC and I've lost 20 pounds, as it's thought that Farxiga causes weight loss because it sends extra glucose (sugar) from your blood into your urine; however, I'm concerned as people who took Farxiga in clinical studies were five times more likely to develop bladder cancer than people who took another diabetesdrug.

What was your A1C before, and what is it now?

I'm lucky, I tolerate regular metformin pretty well (after the first week or three, LOL). Farxiga works in a totally different way.

Maybe you could try a smaller dose of metformin now, give it some time? Or try the timed-release version that is supposed to be much easier on people.

Thanks for the advice! My A1C was 8.4 before I started Farxiga. Had it checked last week and it was 7.3. I have an appointment with my PCP in a couple weeks and am going to discuss giving metformin another try.

I've considered these new Diabetes drugs but the side effects can be really bad. So I will stick to Metformin. It made me dizzy at first and sometimes upset my stomach, but now I can take 2 doses per day 4 to 8 hours apart and I seem to be tolerating it well now.
