I keep having a fast heart rate which wakes me up at around 11/12 at night. Ive had a few days where it hasnt happened. Has anyone else had this before? If so, what did you do to help.....had blood tests for it and waiting for a 24hr ECG.

if you have a history of anxiety, that could be what it is. Anxiety sensations are very random and can happen at any time. Sometimes we just get an adrenaline surge. Chances are your ECG will be normal. many people with anxiety will feel a faster heart rate first thing in the morning. using proper breathing techniques for anxiety will lower the heart rate. You can find those on YouTube.if there is something in your life causing you anxiety, see if there’s ways you can modify it so you are less anxious.

my first encounter with health anxiety when i was 17, 9 years ago i lived at home and would wake my mum most nights after falling asleep with this.. id shoot up saying its doing it again not long after i fell asleep with a racing heart. had heart mri the lot everything fine.. was free for 9 years and recently my anxiety came back started with a panic attack, (heart related again) ecgs and bloods fine. over the last 9 years had the odd panic in the night but never bothered me. Search nocturnal panic attacks they can happen in sleep!

if it happens best thing to do is just lay there and breathe it will gradually slow down. i know its difficult but i use to jump up and pace about which obviously doesnt help. i never thought my anxiety would return but here i am! youll get through it!

youve got this too! just keep telling yourself you are ok and you will start to believe it! i go through spells of health anxiety and i used to talk to myself and say "im ok" "im healthy" and it helps me get over it!
