    Hi, Steph.

The thing with anxiety is that its all in our heads and it convinces us we are suffering from some type of illness or we are about to die. The more you focus on your anxiety & all the things you feel in your body, the worse it becomes. I found that talking to my family & friends has distracted me from thinking that way and paying attention to every little thing with my body which caused me to worry more and make my heart beat faster.

I know it's a struggle & I know it can make you think scary scenario's in your head but please keep in mind anxiety is just a small thing in our brain to protect us from situations which could put us in danger. Its a rush of adrenaline and it will NOT hurt you whatsoever. The only problem is that its out of control and doesn't know the difference when to kick that adrenaline in & when to not. So we have to do things to reset it and calm it down. Talk to yourself when you feel this way, tell yourself its okay and its not scary, just uncomfortable. If your heart bothers you just take deep breaths in through your nose and out your mouth, this is known to slow your heart rate down.

    All the best.

Look up Panic Away on youtube by a guy called Barry Mcdonagh. He gets a Doctor to tell you exactly what a panic attack and anxiety is and how you can overcome it.

      Hope it helps.

Steph, I am friends with a nurse and her normal her rate is 110. It changes all the time, though and everyones heart rate is different. Don't even check your heart rate, youre alive, you're still here, you're alert, you're aware of your body and everything around you. It's just anxiety making you stressed. Try to relax. Take a bath, watch a movie, t.v show, read a book or do something that will get your mind distracted.

You should see your GP as soon as possible. If the cardiologist is right (and they usually are) you need help for anxiety. Only your doctor can decide. Don't bottle it up - let the professionals help you. That's what they're paid for.
