I don't know what just happened??  I was just about to finish my comments on here and the whole thing went off!!!   Now I'll have to say it all again..and there was such a lot too rolleyes  Fistly Loxie, I wasn't offended...sorry if I made you think I was.

Jane, you reminded me of when I had to have an op in 2000, I had to keep my shoes on in the hospital bed!! Oh did I feel stupid?!  YEP!!  redface  The reason being, my toes and arches cramp all the time, and I have to have shoes / boots with a two and a half inch heel, can't use flats at all, my toes stick up and don't go down, Hmmm....sounds bad when I see it typed up like that!   Anyway, the words the nurse said to me when they 'woke' me up were, " It went well and you've got your shoes on" !!   My husband had to bring me a hot water bottle in twice a day and once in the evening for the nightime, I had to sign a form to say if an accident happened it wouldn't be the fault of the hospital.    We had our own business at the time, an off licence, so fortunately, my husband could come in and do the 'water bottle run' for me!!!  lol  One lady who was in the same ward told me I would walk better if I had flat shoes on!!!!   As if I didn't feel stupid enough!!

Jane, your comment about the Orthotics in ordinary shoes are spot on!!   It took me 4 years or so of realizing that if I wore shoes a couple of sizes larger than I really am, then the corns would stop, and they did!  We go through some stuff ladies don't we?   add that problem with the OA and you have......Lil' old me!!

So, like you Eileen, I wish you all a happy Christmas if I don't 'speak' to you before the big day,  it's good to be friends on here, understanding is everything, and I feel we all have that on this site, here for each other, no matter how we're feeling at the time of typing!

Better go in case this decides to throw me off again!!

      Love to you,

     Chrissie. wink xx

Hi Jane I am tired all the time and I have fibromyalgia check this out there pressure points on your body which the Dr can press to confirm. Do you get fuzzy heads - forget things or do silly things - legs that won't rest at night. I wake up in the morning and don't feel like I have been to bed. Hope you get sorted.

Hi, I've just joined the site and found this forum. It's very comforting to see others suffering the same symptoms, I have just had a bad couple of days when everything seems to ache and the weariness was overwhelming! I find that I then get very depressed which is not my usual state of mind. Today is a better day thank goodness. But I didn't realise about the fatigue so at least I now know it's not just me!

Hi Jane or anyone else that is interested.

I have posted on this thread a few times but recently I'm getting more and more tired.

Legs and arms very heavy. Sometimes I can hardly put one leg past the other....dont know if thats fatigue or not......its not fibro....its much worse from what i can gater.

I've OA in hips, lower back, neck and ankle. Had 2 thr's and now have a fracture {greater trochanter bone} which wont heal but thats been a year now and its just recently I'm feeling like this.

I've got kypho scoliosis, spinal stenosis and osteoporosis as well......all I've had for years except the osteoporosis which is the cause of the fracture.

    Any suggestions anyone?

I was anaemic but went back after a course of iron and had a blood test wheich was clear and I was told to come off them. Thats about 2 weeks ago

    Love

Hi Eileen, when I read some peoples threads such as yours, it makes me feel like I moan for no reason. Yes I get days when I feel like a wet dish rag, but I still ride my horse, run a B and B and look after my 5 yr old granddaughter after school every day. It's just the pain in my hands, and the swelling. I feel that this site is where you can come for a moan, or to say something positive. So if I can help pls reply at any time

      Hi Julie

Of course its a site where you can moan or be positive whichever you feel like

I just felt like a good moan todayeek I dont ride.....never did before hand soI'm not going to start nowcheesygrin

I'm not sitting about doing nothing......I'm a volunteer for Arthritis Care.....Peer Management......we have a drop in point in hospitals and various other places and people come and talk to us , ask questions, we try to answer their questions but if we cant we have a file where we can find people that will answer them so we sign post them. There are usually 3 at a time at a drop in point.

I go to the gym once a week, I go to yoga once a week {a couple of moves adapted for me} I got to Zumba once a week but it is seated zumba that Arthritis Care run but still energetic.

I also walk but with crutches.......I make a point of going for a walk in our shopping mall which is large and not looking at shops, just practicing walking, posture etc and then end up at a Starbucks for coffeewink

There has to be a treat at the end of it  wink

I'm just thinking that all those things have stopped until Jan and some dont start to Feb so all I've been doing is the walking so why am I shattered????

Thanks for the offer of a shoulder.

      Love

Hi Eileen, I wish I could answer your last comment on the tiredness, I thought it was the fibro Dr said she thought I had? Now having read a lot of people comments on this site, is fibro or the oa? Causing my tiredness.

Well said Jane!!  cheesygrin Tha'ts what we're all about Jane, helping each other out.

Where would we be without our friends on here who TOTALLY understand??!!!

Where would we all be without a good old moan?!

I'm sure we all keep as active as we are able, just not easy for any of us is it?

I am a busy church secretary, and am involved a lot in my church, including being part of a small singing group!  we make a noise anyway!!   Sometimes, we just can't do anything because of my OA or my Raynaurds, I hate letting folk down, they're a lovely lot and understand my situation completely, but, as WE all know, it's so hard not being able to do much for very long....sad

Well, I didn't come on here to moan.....not much!  rolleyes

I just wanted to reasure anyone who comes on here, we are all here for each other, probably we're the only one's who truly understands how we're feeling, I am very glad I found this site.  razz

May I wish you and all on here a much happier and less painful 2015.

      Bye for now,

     Chrissie. xx

Hi Jane and all of you who read this post.

i'm new to this forum (or any forum) but I thought it will be good to read all of your up and downs since they are most likely are going to be mine as well.  I have Osteo on both of my knees.  I had Orthroscopy surgery back in 2007 in right knee to repair minuscus but now is my left knee that's hurting and lubricant injections have not really help all that much.  I went to a different Orthopedic doctor away from where I live and he told me that when I can't take the pain anymore is when I'm ready for a knee replacement....

now in addition to the knees I have had pain on the big right toe and today I went to a foot specialist and he said I was "bone on bone" and that I

needed a joint replacement.   I just started to read about people's experiences with toe's join replacements and there is a lot of dissatisfaction.  Also I'm glad I read a lot of your comments on been tired and fatigue because I feel the same way I just had blood work done think I was anemic or something and results are all ok so most likely is associated with Osteo.  Does any one of you have had or know anyone that had a big toe joint replacement?

would love to hear about the experience.

Hi Justali.  I too have had OA in my thumb joints for many years - since my early 30's.  Due to a major accident a few years back I now have it in other places and the fatigue has really taken hold.  I specifically asked my GP whether it was just the strain of coping with the pain that was making me tired but she said a symptom of OA is chronic fatigue, it's part of the disease not just a coincidence or reaction to pain.  She said there was no pharmaceutical 'quick fix' for the fatigue but regular low impact exercise would really help (eg swimming etc) and trying to pace myself to do things little and often rather than trying to do one big activity all in one go - easier said than done when you have to work, run a home, shop, etc etc.  I have developed fibromyalgia too in recent years and that too causes fatigue - double whammy.  I find 'cat naps' help a lot, obviously cant do that at work but at other times, I now give in to the need to nap and just do it, even for very short periods and it helps refresh the exhaustion for a while.  Make sure your Vit B12 levels are sufficient too - lack of B12 causes tiredness.
