Fatigue and poor circulation post cholecystectomy

I am 11 days post op, and seem to be getting better as far as GI symptoms (am able to eat more, BMs are ok). However, I am suffering from intermittent extreme fatigue and dizziness, and what appears to be poor circulation in my legs. I do get up and walk around to the bath, kitchen, and take a turn around the yard when feeling up to it. But when I stand in one position for more than a minute, my calves start to turn purple and blotchy. Has anyone else experienced this? If so, did it go away after a while? I am starting to wonder if the anesthesia did some damage to my heart. I have a mitral valve prolapse, which the doctors knew about. Any thoughts? Should I be worried?

hi, I also felt very weak and tired for a couple of weeks. Did you have low Bp after the operation or do you have low Bp anyway? Sometimes the anaesthetic can make you feel a bit strange for a while. I took a 3rd week off sick before i went back to work but actually wish i had taken more. Get checked out by your Gp if you are worried- take care.

Thanks so much for the reply. I had my post op today and apparently, my symptoms are not considered normal. They want to do another ultrasound and bloodwork. I just had an episode tonight that felt like a gallbladder attack. So, maybe a stone still stuck in the duct? I hope not but it definitely feels like something is off.

hi. I'm on day 8 today. the worst symptom for me has been the fatigue and light headedness. Every time I think I'm feeling better and do something small like making the bed or washing-up, I then feel so tired I actually feel ill, nauseous and shaky. I would like to just stay in bed but I read that it helps with your recovery if you get up and try to live as normally as possible.

Also my feet and legs started getting numb and tingly which I think is due to poor circulation because I wasn't moving around enough. So I try to walk around the garden twice a day and I dont lie in bed except at night.

But do speak to your doctor for reassurance.

So sorry to hear you're feeling so poorly. For me, it's been intermittant. I've also had pressure in the area where my gallbladder used to be. Tonight I felt a bit swollen in the spot where the gallbladder was. I made the mistake of pressing on it and had a rush of symptoms that felt just like my first gallbladder attack. I have to get another ultrasound . Are you feeling any better today?
