Fatigue from chronic sinusitis

Posted , 2 users are following.

Just trying to figure out whether my overwhelming fatigue is more down to the chronic sinus problems I have or something else. Not long (2 months ago) had a laparoscopic surgery followed by a chest infection, then another cold. Tests for iron etc all good. Have had this a long time since having a broken nose but the GP just advises there is no effective treatment just management. I've read that fatigue is part of sinus trouble.

?I've tried the usual stuff you can buy and home remediesbut none have made much difference. I have another surgery to the knee coming up and feel as if I will be tired forever.

Hi Cynthia, seems like your in a lot of pain with a broken nose. Did you go to a ENT Doctor yet? Not sure he or she will help but they help with sinues. No over the counter meds work for pain like this. Keep me posted and let me know how you made out? I go for surgery on my nose on the 28 of February. The pain in my sinues are making me nauseated. Hi Jeannie, My nose was broken in a fall on my face in 2015 and I went to A & E but they said no resetting was needed, however, one side has a slight deviation of the septum and is easily blocked. I did not have the sinus issues prior to that, except with colds on occasions.

I'm sorry you are having problems with sinus as well. I hope the surgery goes well - please post back after.

?My dr just is not concerned! I need another different surgery soon and this sinus thing is dragging me down as I had chest infections after the last op which I'm sure made sinuses worse than they were. I'm going for a dental check soon, to rule out anything stemming from there.

?If nothing improves, I will ask to see a different GP and beg to be referred at least to know what is going on, even if there is no cure. They have igored other ailments I went with and in the end, these turned out to be serious, so I am wary of being fobbed off again. I don't think we should live in pain without at least something being tried out.

Best wishes for the 28th! Cynthia

Hi Dora, No not had any surgery - my GP just told me I would have to live with it as there was nothing would help! I know some people have their sinuses cleared with a balloon sinoplasty. Have you seen a specialist? I know that there are no certain outcomes with this condition.

Hi Cynthia, Did you go see a ENT? Did you say you had surgery on your nose?  They should of given you meds for your pain? A antibiotic, Methyprednisolone, Oxcycodine?  Dont know if you into the meds but they sure do help with pain. Do you use a nasal spray also?  I do believe you can get depressed from this illness.  Good luck on your Knee surgery. I hope all goes well for you.  I just had surgery on my nose. Pain persist with my nose. Hopefully when they take the plugs out of my nose I will start to feel normal somewhat. Jeannie

Hi Jeannie, I did not have any surgery, it was an accidental fracture that started the sinus problems and the GP will not prescribe anything here.

?I have tried nasal sprays and washes, steaming etc. And vitamins, supplements that should benefit the sinuses. Also over the counter tablets.

?However, it never has gone away totally. I am seeing the dentist soon to rule out any tooth involvement. A relative had a septoplasty but it was not a total cure for them. I hope your pain will subside and you feel much better - these condtions are difficult, aren't they? Good luck, C
