Fatigue is ruining my life!!!

I am fifteen years old and I have been suffering from an unknown cause of fatigue since I was twelve. It all started with me feeling a little fatigued so I went to the doctor for an annual visit. They told me I had vitamin D deficiency. I took 10,000 in a day for almost a year. I cleared up the vitamin D deficiency, but my fatigue keeps only getting worse.

I deal with feeling high energy until a do any activity. Then it just feels like my energy drains. It doesn't matter how much or how little I sleep. I have slept anywhere from 6-15 hours a day but it never helps. Doctors haven't found anything.

My parents just call me a hypochondriac because I complained about it all the time. It has made me pull out of sports. I barely have enough energy to get up for school on most days. It is just ruining my life. It affected me to the point that back in 2016 I tried to commit suicide by overdosing on 20 Tylenol. Amazingly nothing happened. I didn't get hurt. I never told anyone because it never affected me. I keep steadily declining. It has affected my school mostly because I just don't have the energy to continue and stay awake and focused.

Anyways, I am just fed up with this. It has ruined my quality of life, and because I can't get a diagnosis my family just puts me off. I thought it was depression for a while but I ruled that out when I fixed what was giving me depression.

So yeah. Please just comment if you have any suggestions or if you have gone through similar problems. Thanks.

Is it just sports you can't do? Sounds like you could have Cfs, mine was such that I could do things but anything demanding would put me in bed for days.

After years of battling it, I took my GP advice and started pacing. It involves working out how much you can do without feeling bad. I was taught to spend long periods resting. So would come home from work and lie on yoga mat for 30mins doing nothing. Try to do this several times a day. This gives your body. A chance to rest.

Then an I took up a pacing activity of cycling. It's like trying to run a marathon when you can't even walk. It took a while to find out how much I can do without feeling bad. Once I discovered that, it was simply spinning the wheels on a trainer for 2 mins. I started to work forward very slowly from there. I did have to stop a lot of activities so I didn't relapse. It worked and 2 years on I can cycle 35 miles with no impact.

Its a hard slog but pacing, you can google it, worked for me because I was at the of my tether not being able to do anything. Best of luck there is light at the en dog the tunnel.

    Hi Nossam,

Am sorry to hear your parents aren't understanding how hard this is for you. It seems the school are being helpful in stopping sports for you but, you may need extra rests during the day too as wknight says.

In regards it being CFS/me, it affects anyone, any age sadly so it could be this. Ask your GP to refer you to specialist service. If you are in the UK there are specialist CFS/me clinics. They require a blood test first to rule out any other cause to your fatigue first. People do recover so try not to be disheartened. It seems that young people are more likely to recover too. Also, does the school offer counselling? It can make a difference and/or there are services on line that offer counselling for young people, you can Google to see if it would be useful for you.

    Hope this helps
