fatigue & muscle pain

15 days post BBR. The positive is I have been slleeping through the night for about a week. Now that I am sleeping I am always tired. Most of the swelling has gone down in my leg with just a little remaining in my ankle & calf. I am able to put more weight on operated leg & am walking on 1 crutch 3 to 4x daily. When I do I feel a strain on my groin muscle. I also feel same weekness. & pain during exercises that use groin. Muscle. I go to Dr. Tussday. & hope to get answers about what I m feeling & what muscles he might have cut. I am almost off pain killers. I dont know how hard to push during exercises . I dont want to further injure my muscles but . Im not afraid to work hard in therapy. Aside from that along with the fatigue has come mild deprression. I have to remind myself I am jusst over 2 weeks out. My 5 year old is testing me on everything I tell him to do & talking. back. He didnt behave like that when I was a more involved father.I just needed to check in.

This is very early in your recovery. My son is 4+ weeks and has some new pain! This one's inside his thigh. And he gets very tired. So sometimes you'll feel you're going backwards.

Your son sounds very smart. Is there a way you can have him help you - apply your ice pack, adjust your pillow, etc.

Wishing you less pain & fatigue.

I agree with Soos ... early days and it sounds as if you might be pushing your progress a little  - it so hard not to as we all want to get onto a less dependent phase, especailly when you have a little one depending on you.

I think Soos also has it right about trying to get your son to help Does he have regular tasks already? Could you ask him how he thinks he could help ..even by doing exercises with you?

Recovery is just plain tough, but it must be that much harder without an adult partner to share the load and reassure your son.

I hope things get easier. Let us know what your doctor says.

    Hang in there.

Sounds like you are doing great with your recovery! I had my surgery on Jan. 7th & am still in recovery mode! I'm getting better every day but was surprised at how long & how many different things are involved with the healing process! Depression was something I experienced during recovery that I was not told to expect but since have heard that it's common. Our bodies have gone through a war zone & you may experience something similar to PTSD. I guess it's acombination of coming off all the meds plus the feeling of losing your independence & being immobile & being dependent on others.

Everybody recovers at different rates so just listen to your body & accept what it's telling you! Best of luck in your recovery!

I don't think we have "restful" sleep until side-sleeping restrictions are lifted. I was thinking about that - how can we be sleeping deeply, when we are subconsciously staying on our backs all night long? I'm grateful for any and all sleep  : )  but in addition to healing requiring so much energy, it's not a surprise that we're all tired.

My 8-year old helps me put my socks on; reach things that I can't; hold doors; pick up and put down the kitty feeding tray. We are the world to our kids. I don't think they mind helping us and showing us that they love and care about us, too.
