Fatigue, nausea and general feeling sick. Is it just IBS?

I Have been diagnosed with IBS in 2015 and have had colonoscopy and endoscopy later in 2017. Colonoscopy showed some red patches which dr seemed to consider them as hemangiomas which he accidentaly found and I became incredibly scared about but since so many other dr assured me nothing to worry about I started to forget about. Last year I did another endoscopy because I had stomach problems and it seemed like h pylori had caused some problems along with a hiatal hernia. TREATED the hernia and then symptoms went away gradually. Since then I Have had bouts of ibs here and there but not even close . I mean not even virtually close as to what I am having right now. I have extreme tiredness, nausea , a lot of gas, as soon as I eat I either have trapper gas or need to have a BM and a pain on left side where stomach is which radiates to the back. Can this all be due to IBS? Can it feel this extreme? I feel like a living hell and have no idea what to do about it. I did have a ultra sound of abdomen and all blood work came out normal yesterday.

Hi Shfer ,all of those effects are part and parcel of ibs.You will find that ibs is ups and downers.

Sounds like IBS. Try a food diary to see what foods could be causing you trouble, avoid gassy drinks and vegetables such as broccoli, cabbage and Brussels Sprouts and try anti gas medications and antispasmodics for the pain. try disraction techniques and try to stay as calm as possible.

this sounds like ibs, poor you it sounds like you have had a rough deal! you may need laxatives to help move your bowel, that may stop the symptoms you'vd got with a bit of luck.

    hey all,

i forgot to also point out that this happened right after my wife had to go through some mri tests and so on for her problems with pain etc and until we knew what was happening i was completely overwhemled in anxiety and as soon as it passed this hit me big time. now my psycologist thinks that its all due to stress but when i feel so extreme fatigued, all the nausea and pain i start to think i have something bad and just thinking i need to see a doctor cus this cant be just ibs and anxiety goes into overdrive again.

    UPDATE:

i took one single dose of escitalopram and cant beleieve how much difference it made. virtually all nausea and fatigue whent away. I have no idea however if i can keep taking them because i get bad headaches within 1-2 hours of taking them. I used to not take them regularly and this strange side effect developed from it i think. i will give it a few days to see if the headache subsides though. So for reassurance i think anxiety was def the culprit of this all. not even a little doubt about that.

Since your medication is causing headaches, it would be better to stop this medication and try natural anxiety therapies such as relaxation therapy and light exercise such as walking.

sounds like ibs to me too but left side pain was also diaagnosed for me as diverticulosis and i needed antibiotics. ibs settled for a while but is flaring from time to time as i have anxiety whihc is hard to control. maybe if you get that under control youll feel better. your gp will help.

    UPDATE:

    Hey all,

just repeated the rectosigmoscopy today and those red things which were found in 2017 were not there at all so that is a big relied for me.

however my nausea and general un well feeling is lasting. so in 2017 colonoscopy clear in 2018 gastroscopy clear and the symptoms are now the worst i have.

I am starting to believe that nothing bad is there but how can u feel so bad specially with the nausea and tiredness?

what is quite interesting is that when i rest i feel much better . I mean when i lay down and have nothing to do but if i need to do any kind of activity i feel much worse. my gi says that its nothing to worry and that i keep using the medication she perscribed. but i am functioning 50-50 at this point!
