Hi all. I'm told I have IBS by the docs after many tests. Do any of you guys suffer from fatigue along with your ibs symptoms. I'm really tired all the time.

I do have an under active thyroid. My skin and eyes is itchy but no rash. I do suffer from dry skin. Don't really know where or what to now. As you can see. I've had a lot of tests.

Some of your fatigue could also be coming from your Underactive Thyroid. Ask you doctor to retest your thyroid hormones again to see if you need to increase your thyroxine dosage.

Underactuve thyroid can also be a resukt of auto immune disease. Ask to see a rheumatologist.

Yes but mostly after an attack where I go relax on the sofa afterwards with a peppermint tea and wake up and it is 4am. I hate that. It happened to me the other day and did not get in work until 10.30am which is good considering but not good when appraisals are coming up. Also I was sick at work and that never goes down well either. In the afternoon I could hardly keep my eyes open. I blamed it on the mild sun but it was definitely illness. If I have an attack in the morning I have to go back to bed for 3 or 4 hours like a Victorian lady. No wonder my ex broke up with me I was either asleep or ill which is not the best basis for a relationship I have found. I have Uber loud alarms to help me wake up as I could quite gladly sleep for 20 hours. I kid you not. I was away once and not woken. My friend went out and came back 4.30pm and I was still asleep. I have found one of the few things which wakes me but still only after about 10 mins is someone sitting at the edge of the bed drying their hair with a hairdryer but sadly I do not have that delight anymore.

Fatigue is an IBS symptom.  However, I only get this after a major IBS flare up which fortunately is very rare for me.

It was rare for me but noticed attacks have become more frequent again as if the foods which have been combatting my problem are being worn down by the IBS and not giving the same level of protection they once did. I have had a few attacks in the last few weeks and both times with sickness. Damn body. I can't trust it. Luckily only one of those days caused me to be very late at work so far so good but I do eat the same foods repeatedly so whether that had any bearing I do not know. Maybe I should try and mix my days a little.

Maybe a particular food that you hadn't noticed before is catching you out.

I was diagnosed and I use the term loosely by my doctor after I picked up a pamphlet & read the symptoms and I had pretty much checked them all off. He was like yeah you probably have IBS wrote me a script & we talked about why I was actually there. That was I think 2007-9? It has been a while. Hard to say.

I had/have fatigue with mine BUT I also have HYPOthyroidism which is a slow thyroid. So that could very well be a contributing factor to both of our fatigue but as I've learned fatigue is a symptom of IBS. Our body is going to be fatigued after our bowels try to digest, fight with itself, digest, and fight more with whatever food we try to eat and it's a constant battle. Especially for people like myself who had BOTH forms of the 'end results'.

A couple years down the line, pains got worse, I was sent to a gastro, I had an endo/colon done. I was checked for anemia as I'm so pale. I was told I have mild IBS. I'm thinking to myself if I have MILD IBS I'd hate to see what his definition of someone with Mod/Severe is.

What I didn't know is my gallbladder was a large problem in this - I am happy to say I've only had one real IBS attack since Nov. 16th, 2016 since they got my gallbladder out. It's sad moving a state over from SC to GA and a month managed to get my stomach and guts back in order.

I had severe pain end of September like I assumed it was really bad IBS OR I was cramping [I cramp and have the LOVELY Mood swings but due to hypopituitarism I have no other female related monthly aunt Flo gifts] Two weeks later I'm in the emergency room & they suspect it's gastro & I see Dr. Lal for the first time. the 18th he did a colon/endo, the 23rd? there was a  CAT scan with contrast the 3rd of Nov was a HIDA scan and THAT showed my gallbladder was working at 1%. I met my surgeon on the 14th of Nov. & I had 95% of my gut problems removed two days later.

I realize that is a lot more detail then you need but no do NOT let them tell you you're just being anxious or stressed. I had to go to SC's Orangeburg TRMC many times due to the same pain, the severe pain and sadly it was on on opposite sides - gallbladder pain can be all over I found that out. So when it actually seemed like there was an issue they'd be concerned, when it was in a non-worrying spot I'd hear crap like your to anxious, what has your stomach upset this time, what are you stressed about this time, what is your stomach cramping about this time, why is your IBS acting up this time, etc it's like. I realize doctors are busy be they in ER's, an Office or whatever but if you take TWO MINUTES to listen they'd realize we aren't just over stressed, over anxious people. The saddest thing about my gallbladder being at 1% When my first gastro Dr in Orangeburg saw me after the colon & endo he said ok well your good if there are issues come back. I'm like there ARE issues, he's like right but issues aside from your IBS. I could hear him muttering to his nurse - what a waste of time that one. REALLY? If he had dug a little deeper
