Fear of a heart attack

I know i have posted about this before but my fear is becoming debilitating. I just cant believe it could be anxiety. I have never worried about my health. Im 26 female with 2 kids and in fairly good health. I had a TIA about 6 years ago that they said was most likely due to my birth control. Even after i had that i never worried. Well close to a month ago i woke up with chest pain and it comes and go throughout the day, i could be laughing or just sitting and it happens. And now all i can think is im having a heart attack and my body has been giving me warning signs. I have had ekg, chest xray, blood work, and echocardiogram that came back fine but im scared these wouldnt really tell if im going to have a heart attack, i think it would only pick them up after i have had it. I just have this impending doom feeling that never goes away. Also for the last 2 days ive had tingly jaw pain all day, so im convinced i will have a heart attack soon.

I just dont see how i could go from never having health anxiety, to just bam full blown fear.

i dont know if this adive helps or hurts but insted focusing on googling symptoms of a heart attack, you said it yourself you are convinced your going to have one, so the logcial step would be to google natural remedies and other ways to have the best heart health possible and after achiving that goal ( which i believe everyone should do anyway) if the slim chance you do have said heart attack, atleast you will know you tried everything possible on your end to prevent it.

fyi i once herd that if someone is having a heart attack and they are given Capsaicin ( found in cayanne peppers) it stops the heart attack in its tracks.

Oh and the logical reason you have health anxiety now is likely due to the fact you have kids as you said, i dont have kids myself but if i did i would worry sick about what would happen to them if something happend to me, but then kids tend to pick up on these things and my worrying could dirrectly affect their health aswell so yeah and iw ouldnt want that tbh....

Im just afraid it doesnt matter what i do, its already in the process of happening.

And you are probably right about the kids if this is really anxiety, leaving them is the top thing on my mind. I lost my grandma 5 months ago, 3 weeks before my daughter was born. So being so busy with a new baby i never had time to process losing her, it makes since that it could be anxiety. But i thought i was handling everything very well, so it seems so out of the blue to be so worried about something i have if im really not going to have one.

      Hi Shiann

Iam sure that you are more than capabl of looking after your children. They cannot be protected 24/7 as the world is not like that. Your child/children will understand as children are very good t understanding despite their young ages! In other words they are not as fragile as we may be led to believe. Children have lots of distractions such s friends, toys, their imagination, books to read, computer games etc. Even very small children get quickly absobed into a cartoon film or a game on an IPOD. ihave often seen this for myself.

So in other words try not to worry about your fears etc being picked up by your chiid/children.

Just focus on getting the nxiety stuff sorted with the techniques others on here have described. Thre is always a trigger fffor anxiety and depression as the 2 often run in tandem. If you can identify the trigger then you are 50% there in sorting it out.

The physical symptoms from anxiety are scary and will send your mind and body into panic.

Anxiety cannot harm you but you need to train your mind to handle the panic in a different way.

If you can do some research on mindful meditation and other ways to deal with how you react to the panic it really helps.

I did this and now i dont give the anxious thoughts mind space. It wasnt eäy and it takes some practice but i was so desperate to get my life back.. i reasearched and took every tip .

I still do everything daily to keep my mind focused on today not yesterday or what if tomorow brings.

I still get the odd physical symptom as the body is so sensitised to all the stuff anxiety throws that they take a bit longer to go. But its all about how you percieve it.

As long as you have had tests and they were fine.. Let that go and get on the journey to a healthier happy mind and body.

Give it a try you have nothing to lose but lots to gain.

So do your research on just how anxiety affects you ... Go girl you can do this xxx

      Thanx for the reply!

Can anxiety really give you painful chest pain on and off all day? I have an appt with a cardiologist in the morning that hopefully will put my mind at ease, but i keep thinking i wont be able to make it to tomorrow and have a heart attack. I also called and made an appt with a therapist today.

It's like I'm reading my whole experience and my thoughts! All your fears are still the same as mine! I've been having chest pain for a long time frym, and just two months ago I decided to start medication for my anxiety,I'm feeling better about my anxiety but the chest pains is the same! I ve seen two cardiologist and they both thing my chest pain and palpitations are more anxiety related , but still I am scared and nervous in every episode that I have

I seen a cardiologist today he was very nice but assured me it was anxiety. He said a heart attack for a 26 year old women is very unlikely. He also said because my chest pain happens even while sitting it's even more unlikely to be heart related because people with heart problems feel it more when they are doing physical activity which causes decreased blood oxgen and hence the pain... he set up a stress echo to ease my mind. I felt better for a few houts but im still having the chest pain and now back pain, so its so hard to believe him.

Hi again Shiann Just seen this posting. A lot of chest pain arises from back pain. Itmay be worthwhil getting a physio assessment and some gentle massage on your back. I did yjis several years ago and within a couple of weeks of sessions my back pin diminished. The muscles running alongside the spine were as my physio put just like two ieces of rope! In other words tense from back pain. Physio explained the mechanism of pain. Shetaught megentle exercises, put me on a tensmachine and encouraged me with positive thinking. NHS as well!
