Fearful of having esophageal cancer

I have dealt with acid reflux for quite some time now. Lately I have been having a weird taste and smell, almost like a burntish/electrical taste and smell. I did have covid last November and feel like i never quite got my sense of smell back or taste. However im always one to look up my symptoms which I know I should not do, but im just fearful that possibly have a tumor or something in my throat or esophagus. I have not thrown up but just clear my throat a decent amount. throat feels a little tight. I get really bad anxiety over my health, so I have been a mess. Havent had too much of an appetite, afraid to eat. I went to the gastro place today and the nurse did not seem worried about it and that she thinks its from covid. Does anyone have any input on this? Just super worried that I could have cancer.
