Fed up with all these symptoms

Had a really rough time over the past 6 months with a UC flare up. Had various symptoms that my GP can’t seem to get to the bottom of and starting to wonder if maybe they could be related to my UC. What symptoms (if any) do people have apart from obvious digestive ones.

Hi - not so much digestive symptoms, more blood in stools, diarrhoea, going a lot, urgency to go, bloating and mucous in stool.

thanks dan. i know what you mean - its so hard to know whether its UC ot something else and i dont think GP's know enough. ive had awful migraines, eye problems, chest pains and throat problems and allsorts of aches and pains. ive had blood work, ecg's and x rays and everyhings coming back normal so im wondering if it could be the UC. i just want to wake up and go a day without any symptoms

I WAS DIAGNOSED IN 1971was very ill with obvious symptoms at first and various flare ups over the years x
the last few years ive had Ibs as well , I put a lot of more recent symptoms down to side effects of various medications .

In my experience, GPs are not that familiar with all the implications of IBD. The best sources are your IBD specialist and the Crohn's and Colitis webiste.
Never forget that your immune system is fighting you. IBD may the worst of its manifestations but other parts of your body will be affected two. Joint inflammation seems to go hand in hand with IBD.
Eye inflammation can occur. The most common eye condition affecting people with IBD is episcleritis, which affects the layer of tissue covering the sclera, the white outer coating of the eye, making it red, sore and inflamed.
I was diagnosed with posterior vitreous detachment (PVD) after a very bad flare, a side effect of severe dehydration. Put simply, the vitreous, the jelly like substance in the eye, had dried and was pulling on the retina.
Headaches are often a response to inflammation and why we may be recommended to take ibuprofen a non-steroid anti-inflammatory.
A proportion of UC patients have oral symptoms such as mouth ulcers but your throat may also be affected.
