Fed up with doctors not seeming to care.

I've been told I have LS for almost a year now. and it's been a up and down roller coaster ride. .One problem I have is the feeling of peeing all the time. and also a uncomfortable feeling at pit of tummy. At moment I am using a steroid cream twice a week, and a HRT cream twice a week inside and out. I shower in a epimax cream, and use that in between to moisturize the area. last week I had a flare up , my practice nurse was on holiday for 3 weeks, so spoke to doctor on phone, All he said was to wait till following week and make appointment with the nurse or female doctor. Seeing as nurse was'nt due back for another 2 weeks, and the lady doctor is part time and very hard to get appointment with her anyway. All I could do I'd up the steroid cream to everyday for a week, instead of twice a week. Has anybody else had these sort of problems with LS.

yep totally understand! im up and down at the moment too. Have you been referred to a gyne? or are you just seeing your gp? just spoke to my gyne secretary to try and get seen as i seem to be failing with the steroid, possibly not strong enough. BETNOVATE 0.1% otherwise through the normal appointment system would have to wait till NOV!!

also, don't rule out the possibility that you have a UTI. that covers the frequency of need to pee and the abdominal discomfort. you should check this out because

if you end up with back pain with these symptoms you most likely have a kidney infection because the uti has not been treated .

    take care x

Unsweetened cranberry juice and Azopyridine (Walmart) can stop UTIs also D-mannose powder....

Pretty sure you do. Lots of info on web. Could find and print out to ask pharmacist/health food store in case it is called something else there.

    This sounds like a UTI?

    • Posted

yes, it does. i am a nurse to trade and it definitely sounds like it could be, you could be ( like myself) some one who doesn't always show with the pain on peeing., the abdo discomfort is very common with a uti . it is called being asymptomatic until the infection rises to the kidney.

Dear Nurse Pamela, re the suspected UTI's.... do you also think perhaps the lady, I Feel Down, who by the way, had a hernia repair only two months ago, but is telling us of this strange PRESSURE - might the pressure sensation be from a UTI that has evolved to a bladder infection??

just brainstorming here - grin - without enough knowledge... ask me about trees.

i didnt know she had recently had a hernia op. it is possibly something caused by her op. i dont know where she had her op. as for a uti, it could always be an ascending infection. i hope that things have sorted out for her .

Hi Mears, So sorry you are joining the rest of us with this horrible disorder of LS which, unfortunately, seems to be rather less prioritized by Drs. I believe that comes from the lack of research based cures and healing which is yet to be determined. That is why this forum is so important to us all- we share what works but we are all different.... It helps to have ideas and suggestions from those who have your same symptoms. I had the urgency to pee which stemmed from LS causing severe and sudden UTI's. Also, several times the lab came back "no infection" so I know it is related to Ls. Drink plenty of water and watch your sugar intake. See your regular dr (not only gyno) ; take supplements and that all worked for me-- currently no problems! Best of luck and know we are all in this together! ALSO, pray! (Prayers helped me!:) - ❤

About 2-3 years ago I was first sent to see gynaecologist because I was peeing alot, + having discomfort below. he examined me and said, my lining for thin, and put me on a course of Vagifem. and I guess he thought after several months it would be ok. the thin lining was presumed thin because of having gone through the menapause. My own doctor let me continue with vagifem although i didn't see much improvement. Then several months ago, I had to see the practise nurse as couldn't get in with a doctor. She examined me and very quickly diagnosed the LS. because of the white spots. She said I probley had it for years, but as didn't have symptoms until now I wouldn't have known. I'm surprised the gynaecologist never picked up on it when he saw me. during all this time I had several water tests as thought I had an infection but they came back clear. I did need treatment for thrush once. So until I can get to see the nurse when she come back , that I will just apply my steroid cream every day for a week. Because the nurse was the one to diagnose the LS , I prefer to keep with her, especially since I found the doctor quite rude when I asked for help.

to be fair thrush and Ls is often mixed up.

i myself cant tell if i have thrush or if it is the LS.

most gps are not cognizant about the differences.

your nurse did very well to tell the difference.

After you find out if its a uti or not...and you still have the symptoms of pressure to pee all time plus a feeling like menstrual cramps 24/7 it could be interstitial cystitis also known as painful bladder syndrome,

Number 1 thing to do is to follow the bladder restriction diet: no sugar, caffeine, spicy food, alcohol, baths, anything that might inflame an already irritated bladder urinary tract, etc.

Do you have vaginal atrophy/dryness? That can cause the urgency and irritated tissue, too.
