Feel awful during cold weather?

Hello. I'm not sure if this is related to fibro or not but when I tried to search my symptoms I read this could be a possibility.
During summertime I feel great. I barley have any issues. However, once once the weather drops I pay for it. I feel completely drained with no energy to do anything. (For example: I could sleep all day and still be tired) I get bad chills and it feels as if I'm about to get a fever... however the fever never actually comes. All I want to do is sleep and ingest something warm like soup or tea. I also get pain in my hands and it's hard for me to write/type. My doctor has me on medicine for Raynaud's but it doesn't seem to do much. Any ideas? I hate feeling like this during the majority of the year.

I would try taking vitamine D and get a sad lamp. This is something I go through every year, but it's actually caused by seasonal depression. I hate the cold, the snow, and the lack of sun, it literally makes me depressed.

Hi Naranja,
I have arthritis as well as Fibromyalgia and suffer pain all year round, but that doesn't mean to say that you don't have it. Ask your GP to refer you to a Rheumatologist who will carry out lots of tests, bloods, X-rays, scans etc to rule out certain things and will hopefully then come up with a diagnoses. I hope you get some help soon.

Dear Naranja
About six years ago over a period of a month or so I started to loose the ability to hold heavy items in my right hand and it also was becoming very tender and as I'm right handed this was a real concern for me. I was in the middle of a big home building project lasting several years so not good and the do tors said there was nothing they could do for me.
I mentioned this to a friend and he said that taking Glucosamine and Chondroitin helped him. I was very sceptical but felt that it would have been rude to not give it a try.
After taking the tablets for about three weeks I was aware that my hand was not getting worse and after a couple of weeks it was obvious to me that it was actually getting better!
I fully recovered in the following weeks but still take a tablet morning and night because as a test I stopped taking the tablets and within about a month the symptoms stated to return!
Hope this may help someone
Cheers Richard

Hi Naranja, if you are diagnosed with Fibromyalgia, then one thing that definitely affects us is the change in weather conditions and the Barometric Pressure changes. The cold weather does affect me a great deal. I have more pain and I often feel so cold it is hard to warm up. On those days I like a nice very warm bath with Epsom Salts and I have a good soak along with a good book to read. My hot water bottle is also a very close companion. A good tip that I read also was running very warm water over our hands to warm them. A foot soak is also very comforting. Vitamin D is also essential like one of the ladies advised so getting sun on those sunny winter or Fall days, does help. Richard's suggestion can be very valid as well since arthritic pain can be excrutiating in weather fluctuations and his recommended supplements have helped many people to cope. And seeing a Rheumatologist as suggested, would be one of the first steps to take my dear, to get a proper diagnosis in regards to Fibromyalgia. You are not alone in your pain Naranja. Don't get discouraged sweetie. Like all of us, You will find ways to cope. Maggie xx

Hi there, that is actually one of the symptoms that led my doctor to finally giving me a fibro diagnosis. It's super common for people with fibromyalgia to have the cold weather give them common flu like symptoms during the cold weather that aren't related to any virus.
