FEEL LIKE IM DYING AM I OVERRACTING

Posted , 5 users are following.

So I was diagnosed with Eustchian tube dysfunction in February 2017, so recently this is where they expected it too come from

So in October last year (2016) I had a chest infection just after I quit smoking, then a sinus infection. Then a cold (I fly a lot for work etc) and they suspected it all came from that which is fair enough

Then in February. My ear was blocked here and there pops here and there. But the headaches/pressure headaches. Make me feel like death, they make me feel all bugged up and slow. And at nighttime make me feel exhausted and tired even tho it's like 7pm at night (I'm 18 years of age)

So I was on beconase. Then another spray. Which helped but never did much.

Been taking antiestihime (because my parents think I might be allergic to something) I called the doctor and explained that I've been worrying so much over this issue and nothing's making me feel normal. I feel like it's getting in the way of my personal life. Because it makes me feel rundown and stuff

I sleep and eat fine

I just feel distant from people and I just want it to be cleared up and feel normal again.

Please help!

I've only just recently started steaming method also to clear everywhere

(I smoke again due to the problems, it helps me relax)

Fabio,Smoking will only give you two things. Cancer & halitosis.Try inhaling with Olbas oil.I will only help you minimally & for a short period. If you've read my previous notes here, you'll know I've spoken to a few ENT specialists & it appears none of them have a definitive answer. It seems untreatable & incurable.

    Hi Fabio

I've recently had my ent appointment after three months of waiting. Dr put a camera up my nose, diagnosed me with etd and chronic rhinitis from allergies. He said the pressure is due to the inflamed Eustachian tube. I've got 3 months of saline washouts with flixonase nasal drops, he has ordered an mri of my ear and I see him again in 3 months time. If my symptoms haven't improved I will have a grommet inserted.

My nose feels clearer but I'm still getting the pressure. Everyone on here knows how you feel, it can be so debilitating. My hearing is normal now it's just the pressure, sometimes it feels like my whole left side is being sucked in.

My anxiety has greatly reduced with the reassurance I didn't have anything sinister, I'm also reassured that I haven't just been discharged, I have a follow up

I hope this helps to show you you're not alone, other people on here have had etd for longer than I have so may have some more sound advice

Hello catherine,I hope you've read my notes posted here.It seems many of us suffer from this pressure & while it's not painful,it is very debilitating. When I get up in the morning I'm free from the pressure, but after about 10-15 minutes it cuts in.

      Hi Michael

Yes I read your post. Like you it's fine when I wake up and about 15 mins the pressure starts

I've always had rhinitis and allergies but the etd started after u stupidly put a cotton bud in too far, then got a cold. I developed tremendous health anxiety and had to have cbt for this, my mother has just been treated for cancer which I think contributed to this

It's reassuring although not good that others suffer the same. Prior to this I've always been in pain when descending on an aeroplane (I don't fly that often) so I'm now dreading my next holiday.

I guess I'm luckier than many on this site, but it doesn't feel that way.As I've always totally recovered from any ailments I've had during my life,I  feel a bit cheated because this ETD although not painful for me does restrict me from enjoying life to the full

Fabio,  you're definitely NOT dying and you're definitely NOT overreacting.  I've had the same stuff for going on a year now, and have had it in the past and it is miserable.  I can relate to the pressure, pain, brain fog, etc.

It can bring about anxiety and irritability, which it does for me.  Sleep, gets lots of sleep.  Knowing you're not the only one may help with the anxiety.  I am coming out of it and getting much better and I attribute it mostly to diet and exercise.  There's more to it than the medical profession will admit, but you have to be discplined with it.  I've tried the sprays and antihistamines, etc. and they just made my anxiety worse, and I am not a naturally nervous or anxious person.  ENTs and GPs, for me, did not do anything at all except shrug and say, "Maybe it will get better."  I know that is not that encouraging for you, but maybe knowing you're not alone will lift some of the anxiety you're feeling.

While smoking is not healthy, of course, if it calms you down, I cannot blame you for lighting up.  I know how it feels to be on that train of anxiety that just won't slow.
