    Hi Tommyg24,

I'm really sorry to hear that really but you really don't have to think or say you want to kill yourself.

I have HSV1 too and when I was diagnosed I thought my world had come to an end. For days I was crying and I couldn't sleep, eat or concentrate at work and the thought of how my life was going to change because of it kept me in a stressful start. I immediately started reading all I could about herpes, went to the doctor for medication and also get tested for all other STIs, I then joined this forum from which I have received invaluable support.

I'll suggest you get on medication as fast as possible. Read all you can about the disease and start taking your life into charge. Herpes is definitely not the end of your life. Now you are basically in shock and need time to process and come to terms with this. No matter how difficult it is, you have to somehow come to terms with it because there is nothing you can do to change the situation and putting yourself in a stressful situation will only promote outbreaks and you really don't want that.

You will have to get down to strenghtening your immune system by exercising and eating healthy. I take daily vitamins and a glass of pineapple juice (one forum member swears fresh pineapple or pineapple juice limits her outbreaks).

I had my first outbreak about 2 months ago and I can assure you there are times when I go for a couple of days without thinking about it. Apart from the incovenience of the pain during an outbreak, it has absolutely no incidence on your life. Sex may be limited during an outbreak but it only makes it more enjoyable when you can finally have it. You may find this funny but herpes does have it's "positive points" as it makes you to take some action towards living more healthy and choosing partners more carefully.

Just give it time and then go on living your life. It's basically in the head, if you want herpes to be a big deal in your life it will be but if you treat it like a minor detail then it becomes insignificant

Don't hesitate to write if you want to get stuff off your chest.

    Good luck smile

I really appreciate you taking your time out and responding to my post. Its been definitely a very hard couple of days. Theres moments where im freaking out and getting extremely emotional, but there are also times where I think that im not going to let this get the best of me. Ive went to the doctor and im currently on medication, also on olive tree extract, which ive heard helps in vast amounts viruses . Ive also been constantly reading and educating my self. Im trying to do my best to prevent future out breaks. Its still hard to deal with but im trying my best.

You are very welcomed. I got alot of support from this forum the first weeks after my diagnosis. It was good to have their encouragement and to know there are others out there in the same situation.

That's a really good start and I'm sure you will make it. After the initial phase of finding out it's difficult and there are up and down days but you have to find that inner strenght not to let this hinder you from living your life. Continue your medication and healthy living. What is it you do with olive oil? Is it just food intake or what?
