Feel like quitting sertraline :(

I'm 4 weeks in. Started on 100mg for 3 weeks then 150mg last week. The side effects are now taking their toll.

I haven't eaten properly for ages! Oddly enough I'm not losing weight though. I've been eating crap and trying to eat anything my stomach can manage because 99% of the time I don't feel hungry.

All I've ate today is a chocolate bar. My wife is cooking a meal but I'll probably end up picking at it. Yesterday was a little better I had some toast, chocolate, and managed to eat a meal.

Past 2 nights my sleep has been dreadful. Yesterday night I couldn't sleep until 6am. I lay in bed from 1am until 6am. I was constantly restless. It felt like I needed to move my legs. I tried all sorts of positions to feel comfortable but nothing worked.

Last night same thing happened. I even tried to sleep on the hard floor thinking that the comfort of the bed was a little too comfortable for my liking. I got up at 2am and had some weetabix. I thought maybe I'm hungry. I felt hungry and ate them no problems. But I had 4 hours sleep last night sad

Saturday I was super motivated I managed to spend the day making music and felt rather happy and content. But Sunday and today just feel awful. I have anxiety. The sun is hot in my country and I hate it. I feel sticky.

I thought the side effects were supposed to wear off? I hate this so much. But then I dread going back to a life of constant anxiety and depression. Feeling trapped in a state because either options are not appropriate sad

Hi James.  I know it’s horrible and it’s really tough but you have done a month, it would be such a shame as you really should start feeling better soon.  I do think that’s a hell of a quick jump up to 150 I personally would drop back to 100 for a few more weeks and go up in 25 increments but speak with your doctor.   X

Also wanted to add that I have had that awful agitated restlessness and it is just the worst feeling, my doc gave me diazepam which really helped with that also I hear a beta blocker can help with it.

I'll speak to my doc about it if it doesn't resolve soon. I've got an appointment in 3 weeks to review meds anyway so if I can battle it out until then I should be able to see if I've improved or not.

And yeah the doc thought I was taking my prescribed Citalopram. But I wasn't taking them. My fault for not telling him. So he put me straight onto 100mg as a switch, and then put me up to 150mg.

I'll try to ride it out. Is this normal on these meds?

Everything you describe is normal James but in such a high dose it’s going to be a rough ride and you shouldn’t feel like you need to tough it out.  I think anyone would struggle on that high a dose so quick your poor brain needs time to adjust.   I honestly would speak to your doctor and tell him the truth about not taking citalopram. I think he will immediately lower your dose.  X
