Hi everyone,

i'm really struggling at the moment. I suffer from terrible anxiety especially health anxiety and at the moment is so bad. I have been seeing a homeopath and she is giving me remedies to help with the anxiety & menopause. But I still feel so weird, I wake up some days not too bad then suddenly feel really ill, like weak and dizzy and like my legs will give way. The hot flushes are bad literally feels like my whole body is burning. My heart races and I feel like I can't breather and will pass out. I went to see a nurse last month as I was worried about something she checked everything BP, Pulse and temperature and said all was fine. But can I really feel so ill and weak with the menopause. I worry about every little ache and pain,. My whole body feels like it is zapped of energy. My husband said its all anxiety as my stress levels are so bad with everything going on. I even get nausea now, and get really panicky I feel like I can't calm down. Can you really feel this ill 

Stress can cause all sort of physical symptoms. Have tried speak to a therapist to talk over and deal with the stress. Also the homeopath remedies maybe doing more harm than good depending on what they are.

Can you please point me to some medical studies that prove homeopathic remedies can do more harm than good? Or is this just your personal experience?

Well it all depends on what it is . if just sugar pills then they are a placebo at best and worst do nothing . if its something like laetrile (B17) it cause cyanide poisoning. It really all depends on what it is. Homeopaths don't have to have any medicinal training , or do not have to learn basic biology either . I know menopause is not easy but I think its important to not waste money on false hope or dangerous treatment.

I must have a word with my dog about the homeopathic remedies that she takes for her arthritis and bone spur pain because they work so well my vet has started using them on other patients. Damn those sugar pills working on animals! 😄

Pretty sure laetrile is banned in many countries these days...

To become a practitioner you do have to study anatomy, physiology, pathology, nutrition, and disease at minimum which more than covers basic biology but I agree there are probably some cowboys out there who should not be prescribing since they don't have the required training.

(BTW, I am not a practitioner, but do use homeopathics now and again with great success prescribed to me by my GP who has years more training than the average GP.)

i think you not talking about homeopathy as those sound like Doctors or medical specialists. Homeopaths normally have degrees from Private university who don't actually have to correct information. i think maybe where are hompathic has different meaning than the UK . i meant this Homeopathy or homoeopathy is a pseudoscientific system of alternative medicine. It was created in 1796 by Samuel Hahnemann. Its practitioners, called homeopaths, believe that a substance that causes symptoms of a disease in healthy people would cure similar symptoms in sick people.

As I said previously: "To become a practitioner you do have to study anatomy, physiology, pathology, nutrition, and disease at minimum which more than covers basic biology". That applies to the UK too so not having "correct information" is not true. Becoming a prescribing homeopath in the UK does actually involve quite a lot of education including way more than "basic biology".

I am not confused about the homeopathy you are talking about. I have been using it for over 20 years, and yes, my GP went through homeopathic training along with herbal, acupuncture, and all kinds of whacko science that people don't want to believe. But she believes in treating her patients holistically which can sometimes mean using homeopathic medicine. She is fully licensed and legal to do this. When I lived in the UK I also used to see a homeopathic practitioner privately which is why I understand how much medical training they actually have. It's way more than the "basic biology". She was not a GP, and had gone to one of those "private colleges" to become a homeopath. She even fixed my 4 year back pain in one visit because she knew way more about anatomy than my then GP did. 😉

My vet is not trained in alternative care, but after seeing the great results in my dog and seeing the trials I did with her (giving the pills Vs not giving a pill) he's been able to help more of his patients, and because they are dogs they simply cannot fall for placebos. 😃

PSA: do your own research on who you plan to see for your health issues and don't listen to anyone on the internet. 😄

Hi Lisa yes you can really feel that bad with the menopause its insane.. our new normal all the while the hormones are winding down.. if the body is trying to have a period or trying to release an egg for ovulation but can't because estrogen or progesterone took a nose dive.. these hormone really keep the body going when depleted think of it like a car with no gas or oil in it , very bad the car starts to run bad that oil keeps that car engine lubricated and running efficiently. your husband is correct with all the anxiety and worry it makes the symptoms that much worse.. just try and recognize each symptom as it comes and deal with each one at a time, for example I'm burning up so bad I feel so weak I will pass out, just get a cold wash cloth put it on back of neck and for head and sit down until it passes, just knowing that you had everything checked out and nothing wrong should ease the health anxiety a bit so you can make it through each symptom knowing nothing major is happening and that symptoms will pass after a while..really nothing helps this time in a woman's life unless you can take hormones to replace the ones the body is starting to miss, and not everyone is a candidate for hormones and even if you are it doesn't guarantee the body will utilize them like our natural ones.. there obviously are many things you can try to help mask the symptoms like antidepressants or natural herbs and vitamins but that only eases your way through like a bandaid over the bleeding cut for an example.. special diets help a lot you know elimination of all the fun delicious stuff that may bring on an anxiety attack or a hot flash.. food is very important this time in our lives as there are lots of things that our bodies just can't and don't tolerate like we once did, even wine or beer .. bottom line just try and make it through to the other side as comfortable as possible while your hormones deplete and then I'm not sure what awaits us on the other side as I haven't gotten there myself yet,, but have heard things settle.. best of luck and hope you feel better soon.. oh and one more piece of advice keep a daily journal of all symptoms even if its just quick sharp head pains or weak shaky legs and believe me there are some weird ones on the list cried all day couldn't eat very nauseated, but journal all of it and keep looking back you'll start to notice a pattern which helps the health anxiety a lot.. take care ❤

I.ve had all that you mention....feeling sooooooo weak, fatigued and ill. So ill I cant even explain it. Dizzy, whole body burning....yep! On BHRT now, at 42 and its helped. I get more heat and warmth than burning now...dont feel so ill or weak. BUT I.m still in hell. If someone would have told me hormones would have caused all this, I would never have believed it. And yes, the anxiety. It feels like a drug withdrawal kind of anxiety, tho I.ve never done drugs. it has to be what it feels like. Mornings are still the worst for me. I still cant believe it all and still wonder after years of I have some disease or will be dealing with all this for the rest of my life. hang in there! hugs!

thanks for all of your replies it is awful, everyday it seems like another new symptom to worry about, my IBS is playing up and I have been getting panic attacks, it really is hard dealing with it all

Oh panic attacks are awful! Have you tried 4-7-8 breathing? I am pretty sure I am not allowed to leave a link but you'll find it anywhere. It's a very simple breathing exercise than can help calm you down and help prevent attacks. I am the worst when it comes to focusing on breathing but it may help if you do it often enough.

There is also music by Marconi Union called Weightless. They worked with sound therapists to compile music that helps reduce your anxiety. There is even a ten hour recording for sleeping if you like it that much. It's very calming and feels like you're having a massage in a spa. ☺

Try not to be too hard on yourself. Everything feels twice as hard right now so take time to look after yourself.

hi Sabrina thanks for replying I will try the breathing its really hard at the moment. I will try anything x

Just try a bit at a time. And then next time try a little more. Don't push yourself to do it completely otherwise you'll never want to get back to it. That's been my experience anyway. Take it slow and be kind to yourself. ❤️

the answer is YES! You can feel this ill from menopause. Im 52 and mine started a year ago, dizzy, feel like im going to pass out, feel drunk, sore throat, heart palpitations, skipping heart beats, tremors, vivid crazy dreams, fatigue, sleeplessness,. Try to stay calm and not panic. It's all menopause related. Try walking, getting outside, do yard work or flowers etc. You need to get your mind on other things because if you dont this will drive you crazy. I learned to NOT google every single symptom and stopped worrying about it, and it helps to just take deep breaths and relax, it really does. I hope that you feel better soon and your symptoms subside. We are all in this together!!!

Yes I feel odd.. weak and not my self. We are ok with this covid thing going on and have been caged in since March 15 so I think that's making me crazy.. Kids and their schedules are out of whack-- I sleep but I don't think it's good sleep. Maybe the anxiety is getting to me as well. I have been cooking and cleaning more.. I just hate it and miss my old routine. My body is aching more since I can't get to the pool. UGH
