can anyone please tell me how long their dizziness lasted, and how it went away? I had the iron infusion 7 months ago and still cant do a lot of things because of the constant feeling of being dizzy. I've had multiple tests and all are clear so its been put down to long term iron side effects - I would really appreciate to hear any similar experiences please!!!!

Hi Mary, which iron did you have - it would be interesting to know if it was the same brand as mine! I had Ferinject.

I had Injectafer! Wish I could go back in time! How are you coming along?

I am getting better but it is taking so long and some days are much worse than others. I would say the majority of symptoms have gone, but the dizziness is still affecting me greatly. I'm now very drained from the whole experience so I rest a lot. How are you getting on with your symptoms?

hi, I had my first iron infusion 3 days ago. I am now suffering headaches (fuzzy head, sore between eyes) nausea and constant tiredness. i just want to go to bed and sleep. i am feeling very nervous from reading all these posts that my symptoms might get worse or last a long time. Anyone feel this bad, but recover in a short amount of time?

Hi! Hope you are all doing better! I am now 4 months post ferinject and most of my lab results seems to get back to normal. It took my phosphate around 90 days to recover! However, I am still fatigued and dizzy. Fatigue is what is bothering me the most. What's new is that my endocrinologist ordered a calprotectin test, which came back at around 450! This means that I have an inflammation somewhere in my stomach. Normal level is less than 50. He says that this probably means either ulcerative colitis, chrons or best case scenario coeliac disease. Ulcerative colitis and chrons just seems very unlikely since I never have diarrhea or any other symptoms. From what I've read excess iron can cause inflammation, so I just wanna know if someone else experienced something similar after iron infusion? I recall that someone here on the forum mentioned h pylori infection, but my doctor says it unlikely a h pylori infection would cause calprotectin of such of high numbers. What's frustrating with this whole thing is that doctor's don't seem to believe that an iron infusion can cause such prolonged symptoms, so they wanna find something else.

I have had iron infusions for the past 10 years. Some years 2, some years 4x a year. In the beginning no issues, but past 3 infusions had severe back pain and blood pressure stayed extremely high for the first 4 to 5 days after infusion. example 190/130 .not good, and felt bad for 2 to 3 weeks...then felt the great results..energy, no restless legs, no brain fog and able to breathe! hopefully for you the benefits will out weigh the negative results, but if you never feel better, time for your dr. to investigate some other options.

I am going through the same thing with my BP . 144/97That is high for me. How long did it last for you?? I am thinking maybe its because I am anxious from this Venofer . All my swelling went away two days after the infusion . I am on day 8 .

Hi, I am 72 and my body does not store Iron . This started in late 2018 or early 2019. I learned of it in 2019 when my heart doctor took blood work. I have had infusions twice now. The first round of 2 bags given a week apart did not make me sick, but this time a week before the first infusion my stomach started hurting and it has continued now for 6 weeks. I have severe nausea and gastritis or gall bladder like symptoms. I have not spoken to my Hematologist about this, but plan on doing so when I see him in April. I have many questions to ask him. I was ignorant on how important Iron is for your body to function properly and how the Iron might effect me. My body is not storing Iron for some reason, they can find no bleeding. I have taken every thing I can find for the stomach symptoms and nothing has worked. I am now gradually getting better. I read that the Cleveland Clinic does not like your Iron to fall below 100, but when mine got to 75 they said Medicare would not pay for an infusion until it was lower. The first time it was 7 and it went up to abut 560 after the infusions and they lasted me about 16 months. I am thinking I will ask to keep topped off where I only have to get one bag at a time, even if I must pay for it myself. I do not know if I can tolerate this every time I have to get it if this is what I will experience. The last check I had mine was at 25 and I did not get the Iron for another couple of weeks. We must all communicate regarding this in order to help each other to find solutions. I read at one place they gave IV Phenergan with it as well as Benadryl . I have been taking Phenergan along with My ulcer meds, Gasx , immodium, rolaids, Baking soda and anything else I can find as I have been miserable. Just this knawing pain where my stomach joins my esophagus and then terrible bloating and gastritis. I feel a little better today and hope it will continue to improve.
