hello
I am almost 4 weeks post my iron infusion. This is my second infusion, I had my first 3 years ago. I never remember feeling the way I do with my first. I'm tired, nauseas ( that seems to be getting better) and these weird buzz like headaches that come and go. Not sure what's gone wrong this time, but I can't wait to start to seeing some kind of improvement...

hi!
I had my infusion last Wednesday. I go again this Wednesday. is it normal to feel more tired than before?
My shortness of breath are gone so are the small chest pain I was having. But I am more tired than ever.

Hi! Better to ask to your doc, it is always better to clear doubts from the one who has given prescription. Apart from keep following a good diet that help you in normalising iron levels

Hi everyone,
It's been 5 months since my infusion and I continue to struggle so much with the side effects that I was left with.
Some side effects that resolved on their own in time: nausea, low blood pressure, stomach aches, back aches, shortness of breath, dizziness. For whatever reason, summer heat made everything much much worse.
Side effects that have NOT resolved: joint pain, intense muscle aches, especially in my legs.
I have good days when I'm more active and bad days that I still spend in bed.
But the pain is so unbearable sometimes that I haven't been able to work ever since this happened.
I'm starting to lose hope and contemplate suicide more and more often. I have done extensive testing, trying to figure out the cause, but no doctor was able to help.
Is there anyone here that made a full recovery even after more than 5 months? Please if there is any hope you can give me, I would be eternally grateful! I don't think I can live like this for the rest of my life.

Hi, do you know your phosphorus level? And what is your ferritin level now? I think the symptoms will go away when your ferritin value reaches ideal levels. I've had a lot of joint clicking too. Due to low phosphorus, my bones and muscles are not as strong as they used to be. Stomach issues and headaches have been one of the worst symptoms for me. I understand you, very well. I often thought of suicide because I thought I would never get better. It's been almost 4 months and I'm still having stomach problems. There were doctors who said that the symptoms I was experiencing were psychological. I went to psychiatric many times, but the drugs I was taking increased my nausea and anxiety. Not being able to eat for days, vomiting, panic attacks were terrible. I'm not happy at all. Was there an antidepressant you used during this process that didn’t cause nausea?

Hoping someone can help. It maybe a little to much info. But I've had yellowish stools since my iron infusion. I had my in feb 2019 and I still have yellow stools, if i don't take my iron tablets. I had a abdominal ultrasound and it found nothing. Has anyone else experienced this? Thanks

Hi, does anyone still have nausea and reflux problems after 5 months? What did you do to heal your stomach and how did you eat? Or does anyone have a stomach that never gets better? I would be very happy if someone answers...

You should ask to get your phosphorus levels checked. Iron infusions are known to cause phosphorus depletion in the body and this can be life-threatening. https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/31385673/

Hi all just wondered if anyone has made a full recovery?
I got Ferinject on Thursday 18 Nov and since Saturday have had body aches, mild fever, joint pain and constant nausea! I am basically bedridden. Paracetomol and Ibuprofeb are helping a little. I have 3 young children so i really need to get better soon! Any advice or updates appreciated!

Update: Its now Monday and I'm feeling much better. My gastroenterologist said some people can get aches and pains. I still feel tired at times and have a mild headache.

Hello,
I had my second iron infusion over 2 months ago, March 18th, and I'm still experiencing many of the same horrible side effects listed in these post which started 2 days after the infusion. Did anyone experience hair loss? I've lost half of my hair since the second infusion. When asking the doctor for help or any guidance on how to find relief from the symptoms, I'm told they don't feel its from the infusions and to follow up with my Primary Care Doctor. They feel since my last ferritin level was at 636 I should be fine and only if it was over 1000 would there be a reason to be concerned. It all started after the second infusion which was a week apart. I don't understand why they wont help me. I have left a message for my PC doctor, but was hoping to find out if anyone has experienced hair loss along with the other symptoms.
Thank you

I received my first iron infusion one week ago, 7/13/2022. I am anaemic with iron deficiency due to my Crohns. I cannot tolerate oral iron supplements. My hope was this would be better. I seemed ok for the first few days, then the migraines and nausea started. More fatigue than usual, light sensitivity, misery really.
Is this supposed to happen? Are these the normal side effects until everything has settled? I certainly don't want to go for my next one in a week if this will happen again. Any help would be wonderful.
