Feeling better on 20mg, then started 30mg

Posted , 4 users are following.

This is my second time taking Celexa.  I took it for years and thought I’d taper off to see how I’d do without it.  I lasted six months.  I started back on 20 mg for 2 weeks, now I’m on 30 mg day 8.  I seem to be having high anxiety and no motivation, not wanting to do anything.  I don’t remember feeling this way the first time I took Celexa and I was on 40 mg. Has anyone else felt this way when increasing doses?  If so, when did you start to feel better?

I also only lasted 3 months when I was fully off of it. I’m currently back in it and on week 4 of only 10 mgs and motivation is very low as well as lack of sleep at night. I’m a bit scared to go up to 20 as I don’t want to feel the awful side effects again. Give it time with the side effects. They say it can take 6-8 weeks to start to feel the effects of Celexa. I’m holding on for that hope🙏🏻

I have forced myself to workout and get outside everyday. It’s not easy but It helps. Take your vitamins as well. Fish oil, B vitamins and magnesium help a lot. We will get through it! Your motivation will come back. It takes time and is very slow process. Blessings to you!

I am also on 10 mg, 4th wk after going off. Could handle it much better if I didn't have the urinary frequency thing. Been told it goes away,at a month. But its driving me crazy. Pray every day for it to subside. Wish I had never gone off of it. My life would be normal right now. Good luck to you

      Nancy,

I always been feel like I have to use the bathroom but it’s mainly  from my anxiety. So I’m use to it. Its definitely not an ideal time but I’m taking this time to do things a bit differently and work on self improvement. We all go through seasons and this is just a seasonsmile Keep being encouraged by reading the Bible. You will be back to it soon. I’ve been keeping a journal to track my process. It really does help to see how far I’ve come.

      Blessings!🙏🏻

I was on it for years and the urinary frequency never went away.  Hopefully yours will.  When I got off the medicine for a while I realized I did not have to go to the bathroom nearly as much.

I was on this med for 9 yrs and never had this problem. I've heard from other people it stops at about a month or so. I'm praying it will, otherwise ill have to use bladder control meds. I won't do this forever. Thetes got to be someway to stop it. Sorry it did that to you. Are you still on it?

I just started back on it about 3 weeks ago.  I have been on antidepressants most of my adult life because I started having panic attacks.  Doctors tell me that I will probably have to stay on them forever because of my anxiety.

Thank you for your comments.  I am usually a gym person, but right now It is hard for me to even leave the house.  I would try to take a walk outside, but I live in Texas!  It’s about 100 degrees.

    Yes, absolutely.

Have recently increased from 2.5 to 7.5, via 5mg in the middle.

First week of increase to 7.5 felt better, second week the physical side effects of increasing started, and this third week the emotional side effects. My legs are like jelly, and I feel like I can't be bothered with anything.

I can't give in to that, however, as am moving house. Have also had a couple of days this week of increased anxiety. Strangely, this is probably all a good sign ie that the citalopram is working, but it's a bit weird to feel wired one moment and lethargic the next.

But seriously hard to motivate myself this week to do anything. Am sure this will pass, but it's a bit of a tricky phase to wade through.

I just keep trying to focus on how much better I'm going to feel in a few weeks. I get glimpses of it eg had a good day yesterday, and remind myself that soon that will be mostly every day.

    This forum helps enormously 😊
