    HI wendy,

I am not a dr but it is normal to have some stomach issues. I had them when I was on escitalopram and when i switched back over to the citalopram.

Your also taking other meds which could very well be playing into the stomach nausea as well. Still cant hurt to let your Dr know.

thanks andrea i think its makeing it worse because i'm worrying because i'm takeing other meds to but i don't think doctor would put me on them if they were to do me harm but i've been like this since july been on sertraline citalopram which did not agree with me thats why he put me on librium and propranolol which has worked ok till now i did ask to come off librium as dont like to stay on a benzo so he gave me escitalopram so i'm worrying they wont work but my mind is telling me there must be something serious wrong with me i had a complete blood count 3 months ago plus 2 ecg's which were ok i went down to 10stone 4 when i started being like this now i'm just over 11 stone and people tell me if it was anything serious i would lose not gain weight it's just the stomach issues dull headaches aches and pains does not stop my everyday plans by the way i'm postmenopausal sorry to gabble on but just needed reassurance

      Hi Andrea,

Im new on here and have just joined. Ive been on escitalopram for just over 8 weeks and been on 15mg for just over 2 weeks and I feel so ill. My anxiety and panic attacks have been horrendous with a lot of crying, and since going up to 15mg ive had a lot of stomach issues with awful wind, diarrhea with mucus, nausea and no appitite what so ever, I really have to force myself to eat the smallest amounts. Was wondering if you or anyone else felt this bad. I know its a rough ride with these sort of tablets as I was on paroxetine for 20 years before my doctor changed me to these. Thanks.

Hi Julie,I have been taken lexapro 20 mg for 5 months now and the anxiety is much better. These meds take a long to work and very gradually before the effect of the med starts to help. So hang in there, somedays will be better than others but they have helped me. Good luck to you. God Bless.

      Hi julie

I am going through the exact same thing. I am on citaloptam which is escitaliprams sister drug and it's been 10 weeks for me and it's still pretty bad. They say it can take weeks or even a few months before you feel better.

The side effects come back when doses increase as well unfortunately.

I pray thats not the case for you but like I said its been 10 weeks for me. Hang in there!!

Hi, thank you for your reply. Its a little bit of comfort knowing im not the only one having theses symptoms, I was getting even more anxious thinking I wouldnt be able to tolerate these tablets and have to come off them and start something new, making the whole cycle start again! Since going up to 15mg the side effects have been a lot worse so I am going to try and level out on this dose before I even think about going up to 20mg, if at all.

The depression if that is what your being treated for and the meds mess with your brain and tell you that theres something more seriously wrong.

I have been dealing with this for ten weeks and Imam still trying to get the meds right so in the mean time i am dealing with heightened anxiety and lots of crying.

Dr says its all the side effects and will eventually subside but takes a long time unfortunately.

    Hang in there!

hi andrea day 2 and feel horrible lightheaded and nausea i didnt think they would have side effects this quick

yes they do unfortunately. With these meds the side effects can come quickly and be very harsh. They can also last a long time until your body levels out to the med. With these meds you almost always feel worse before you feel better.

Don't be alarmed if you suddenly feel more anxious or depressed or sad. Those are side effects if the meds as well as the meds equalize in your brain.

Hopefully you won't get to many of the side effects and hopefully you'll be feeling better soon. The meds do work but take a long time.

I am on week 10 and still feeling pretty crappy.

hoping im almost to starting to feel better.
