You can have faint feeling with any illness. However, are you sure it isn't something else - like a heart problem such as atrial fibrillation or another sort of arrythmia? Do go and discuss it with your GP and perhaps keep a diary of the symptoms - when, what you have been doing, how long the faint feelings last and so on.

    Hi, Joyce

When Iwas first diagnosed with GCA I did have a couple of "near faints", where I felt really dizzy and lightheaded - very frightening indeed. Fortunately these seem to have gone and though i get very tired at times, I ammanaging to live a fairly normal life of a 76 year old.

Joyce, steroids come with a long list of possible side effects and with GCA you will obviously have been started on a very high dose so at more risk of side effects.

One of the known side effects of steroids is high blood pressure, and high blood pressure can cause light-headedness.  If that is not the case for you, then perhaps one of your medications is to blame.  You are taking rather a lot of different pills, so, if you haven't already done so, do get your pharmacist to check them all out for compatibility with each other.  Any interaction between them could also be the cause of your problem.

Yes, whenI get up from any position, I have to think about how to steady myself because I am lightheaded. Balance is a huge issue and I now walk with a wider gait. Weird not normal. Ann11195

Discuss this with your doctor since it is a symptom of postural hypotension which can have several causes - including GCA.
