Feeling Hopeless With This...Let's Talk About It?

Posted , 7 users are following.

I've done some research and it's come to my conclusion that I might have Hidradenitis Suppurativa. I've made an appointment with my dermatologist to see if that is what I really have. I have symptoms just like all of you. The painful bumps that appear under the arms, under the breasts, and around the groin area. I've had this for about a couple years, but now its gotten so bad. I feel ashamed and embarrassed to wear shorts, even sleeveless tops. Just wanted to know if anyone feel the way I do...insecure, embarrassed?

I hear you on this, I think I have a combination of skin issues, but hte back of my neck is a mess and even in the hot weather, I can't put my hair up without it showing and it is embarassing.

I hope that your appointment with your doctor uncovers the issue and finds a solution.

Yeah, its absolutely horrible. I know how you feel. And thank you. I really appreciate it. I hope so too. I don't know how long I can deal with the pain and the discomfort anymore. It gets old after a few years lol. Have you been diagnosed with HS and if you have, do you receive treatment for it? I've heard of surgery and all kinds of treatments.

Hi Christine, yes I'm the same. There is no way I could wear shorts or strappy tops..... I dread summer!

It's really down to personal choice with regard to surgery. I opted for underarm surgery many years ago and was lucky enough that it didn't re-cur in that area but I still suffered in other areas. Lots of people find that changing diet helps and if you read some of the past posts on here you'll get lots of information and advice that may help you. Always try to wear natural fabrics next to your affected areas and nothing too tight as friction on the skin will only irritate the HS. I found this a massive help. Epsom salt baths also helped me You're right it's a horrible, painful and yes, embarrassing disease and interferes with normal daily life so much and I'm sorry for you and anyone else having to deal with this. I sincerely hope your dermatologist can help and advise you and that you find some relief. Good luck with it all!!

Yes. I haven't worn a tank top or extremely short sleeve shirt in 11 years. So frustrating
