Feeling low, Seborrheic dermatitis

Hi,

I've been diagnosed with seb derm for almost a year now. My self esteem has taken quite a hit and I really want to find a treatment that works for me, this is why I've come here for advice?

I have it on my scalp, back, chest, legs and in my beard when it flairs up which seems to be constant. I use eumovate on my back and legs. It seems to be worse on my scalp at the moment.

Although I've been more involve in the gym for the last 3 weeks and my back seems to look really good. On top of this, I've substituted cider for beer and vodka (which i'd drink a lot of on nights out) and wonder if this has had a positive effect? I haven't changed my diet at all, as i've heard it's not effected by it. It never seems to fade on my legs even with steroids.

I use caposol on my scalp and beard, and i've tried kentozocale. Neither seem to offer much relief. I also use betacap on my scalp, but this seems to make my skin break out with spots slightly on my forehead so i discontinued use.

I went back to my GP and as usual they have nothing new to tell me.

Does anyone on here have any kind of treatment ideas I could use to help sort this out? I'm currently at my wits end.

Thanks for reading!

Hi, check out topical steroid withdrawal or red skin syndrome. I had similar as you, went thru it and have never been better. Took 3 months.

Hi I know how you feel, I have been a suffer for over 10 years and had numerous steroid creams, lotions etc I went to a different hospital within our area and had a lovely consultant who tried all sorts of treatments including light treatment, finally he sent me for a allergy test my last test was over ten years ago  I am allergic to metal, tin etc. so I have to use white gloves for general tasks etc and I have changed my diet, cut out cheese junk food,  crisps nuts loads of things I can't eat now but touch wood feel better for it. I drink at least 4 pints of water a day . I put steroid cream in when I feel the eczema is starting up but I use a hand wash of the hospital and I moisturise all day. Hope this helps

I have a seborroeic wart which is responding to tea tree oil.  I do not know if this is related to sebborroeic dermatitis, but I do know I had tried everything else and nothing worked before.

Hope you find something which works for you!
