Feeling of dying when waking up from dreams

Hi. I'm 18 and recently, I've had, pretty rarely, but consistantly, very bizarre dreams. I'm not talking about dreams where weird things happen, I'm talking about very strange and unique experiences. I should probably say that my sleeping habits are far from healthy and it's propably linked to that.

Anyways, the dreams often go like this: It begins as a normal dream, but something is suddenly out of place, I'm trying to talk to people around me but it gets very confused, a person will often disapear and reapear at another place, I'll have difficulty understanding others. Also, stressfull things will happen, which will enhance this confusion I have. I'll also very often be under the influence of some drug (often weed or alcohol).

This is where it gets interesting: before waking up, I'll be very self-conscious about myself. (I'll see myself in the mirror or be in the third person view), and I'll have the impression that all the world around me is falling appart. The confusion will be at it's peak, everything is shaking and moving around me and I'll have the impression that my ego is dying. It is really painful and the worst is that while that final phase is beggining, I'll be aware of what's going to happen and I know I'll suffer. Then I suddenly wake up, shocked of that dream, but feeling more calm and having a clearer headspace than before falling asleep.

So that's that. I wonder if someone could help me figure out what is happening because I've never found a similar case on the internet. I think these wierd dreams have a connection with sleep phases because they often happen during a light sleep, like when I'm taking a nap, and also because of their semi-lucid propriety. Also I want to apologize for my vocabulary and spelling because english isn't my first language. Thanks in advance 😃
