hi,i started on 10mg of citalopram 10 days ago and as the days have gone by im feeling increasingly sick in the mornings which isnt great when i have to go work and im worried as im meant to increase to 20 mg next week.do you think the increased dose will make the sickness worse or it is something that improves once you get used to the tabs.on the plus side im sleeping better and feel abit less anxious than i was.thanks for any advice.

    Hi

i am on my 4th day of 10 mg. I have stomach pain and some nausea. I m due to go back to docs in 2-3 weeks to maybe increase. I wouldn't worry about increasing your dose if you're still having sickness. Reading what others have said it will wear off but I d wait a while..do you feel you need to increase next week?.. I m thinking if the sickness gets even worse it may add to anxiety/depression..I m shaving some of off my tablet so I m not even having 10 mg s..I d rather do it gradually..hope it works out soon!

started last October on 10 mg as too scared but should have started at 20mg as taking less just prolongs the suffering, also I realised as I went along the sickness etc was due to my anxieties not the citalopram at all, but its hard to see this when u start out, its all in our minds and I ddnt know my mind could do this to me, I am now on 40mg since March and have never felt better, I increased at Christmas last year from 10 to 20mg and felt no side effects, but wish I had started on 20mg, so stay strong, you can read my posts from last October on here under "Anyone NOT had any side effects on Citalopram?" u will see how bad I was and now I am great, so it does dont be afraid, (like I was) stay strong and u will get there x

BETTER LET YOUR DOCTOR KNOW. MAY BE A SIDE EFFECT.. SOME OF US CAN TAKE IT SOME CAN'T.

Hi Del. I  only siffered the side effects for a couple of weeks when first starting on 10mg. I was exactly the same as you and actually had to take a week off work because of the nausea. I was never sick but felt it every morning. This wore off within a week or 2 but for some people it can take up to a couple of months. I didnt suffer with any increased side effects when upping my dose so hopefully you wont either, and if you do it will most probably be minimial. Alot less than when you first start taking them altogether...
