When I have those symptoms, I either get an appointment to see my doctor immediately that day or I go to the Emergency Department.  I have had bouts of pneumonia and now am more prone to that with respiratory infections.  I had a cousin who ignored her symptoms and almost died.  She was found on the floor of her home by her brother.  She had Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease and developed sepsis and almost died.  She also did not know she had COPD.

Hi Alex, you should definitely get checked out by your GP. This might be only an allergic reaction to something, but could be something more serious asthma for example. I have asthma, and when the symptoms started, they were always worse when I was lying down at night. The breathing problem used to feel as though something was pressing down on my chest. As Linda said there are other things like COPD to be considered too. Hope you get help from your GP. Best wishes Marion

    Hi Alex,

Hopefully as Marion said that it could be some kind of allergic reaction towards something. Try and retrace your steps and look to the people that you have come into contact with. Also look towards any cats ect that you have been near...you may have a furball! Just kidding, trying to make you feel a little better. As Linda said though these things shouldnt be taken lightly and you should really go see your doc if the symptons carry on.

Try to determine when your symptons are the worse and when they are not so bad, also do you have any underlying health issues that could trigger these symptoms?

anything to do with 'breathing' needs to be checked out by a health professional. why not give 111 a call & take it from there.

thanks i talked with the nurse ans she would keep a check on it but it gets worse everyday. It started friday and has continued for almost a week now

Ah thats good. Keep a kind of diary and write down when its worse ect. Im starting to do that with my back and if your symptons carry on then the doctor/nurse can refer to your notes. But anyway, hope it doent come to that and youll be better soon

hi alex. sorry to hear ur having respiratoty problems. it's always disoncerting when ones breathing is affected.

firstly i'd say, to make an appoinment with ur GP. this can be cancelled if not needed. if u feel the symptoms, particularly the 'wheezing' is becoming more marked/acute & causing breathing difficulties, then i'd go to A & E.

however, having said all that, i'm wondering, if u have any signs/symptoms of a cold/flue/chest infection i.e. a tempetaure, cough, conjested with a cold/flue, off ur food etc? is the 'wheezing' worse on the 'in breath' or the 'breath'?
