Feeling sleepy, 11weeks on 20mg

So you may have seen my post last week about switching my dose from night to morning, i feel it has helped but it feels like a no win situation right now, i take my tablet at 6am and i get up with my kids around 9am, but when i get up i have found that I'm still feeling tired and my anxiety seems to be up alittle than it was a few weeks ago, im coming up to my 12th week on these meds, i was instantly put on 20mg. I also find that i still have the feeling of being abit weak in my arms and sometimes my legs, it's horrible. Will this get better?

Every other side effect has eased off as i had nearly every one that you can get, i still have dry mouth on occasions but that i can deal with, its the tiredness and weak feeling i don't like. I know you can have little blips but this has been the case for a week now, since switching to morning.

Thank you for reading x

    Hi Jadelou93,

If you have have only had this feeling of weakness and tiredness since switching times, it's probably your body adjusting to the new times especially when you say prior to switching times most other withdrawal symptoms had gone. I'm sensitive to these meds and if I take mine a couple of hours late, I know about it the next day.

I would give it a little more time and if your symptoms don't improve, perhaps you could discuss with your doctor about adjusting your dose, i.e., reducing your dose a little. I had to reduce mine from 20 to 10 because the symptoms were too much for me but that was only after one week. I'm not suggesting you reduce your dose by half, I think that would cause lots of problems 12 weeks in, but a slight adjustment possibly if things don't settle down. Good luck!

thank you for taking the time.to read and Reply Lizzy 😃

i think i am going to give it a few more weeks, maybe a month or so, i have been rather busy the last few days as its Christmas time, so i have been alittle more tired than normal, but that's a reasonable response considering on my feet all day, especially with 2 kids lol.

Thank you again for your reply and Merry Christmas 😄 x

      Hi Alex,

Im still sleepy some days, lately it's due to my baby being restless (joys of teething lol) but it's still there, I'm only 13weeks in now, im hoping it will start to ease up some soon.

I hope you feel better soon, these tablets are horrible to start on but i have heard good things once 6months or so has past, so I'm hopeful.

    Hey all,

Slightly similar story. 2nd time on citolopram. Was on 10mg for 2 years and fine. Started 15 weeks on 20mg. Felt too numb. Came down to 10mg. Was good for 3 weeks and then it hit me like a truck. Really low mood and bad anxiety. Came back up to 15mg. Been 4 weeks and have felt miserable. Really drowsy during the day, foggy brain, cant sleep at night. Now on Trazadone to help with that. its been 5 months now on it and i think im looking to switch. Any advice or thoughts? Thanks!

Im still the same, maybe a little more energy (im now 15wks in) but still feel it's not working as well as it should. I have a big life event coming up which is also challenging, but after it has past i might look into switching myself. I can't bare to switch during whats going on in my life at the moment, it will be too hard and the wrong time. Atleast i think so

      Hey Jadelou,

i hear ya. There's no crystal ball that tells you if its better to stay on or switch. I'm staying hopeful that its progressing albeit very very slowly. Doesn't help that I'm impatient. I talked to my GP and I'm going to wait three more weeks. If bot getting better, there are more options out there. Keep your head up, and take care!

It is a very slow progress unfortunately, but it does get better . Don't get me wrong, i am alot better than i was, but i just feel that things could be that little bit better. My drs ans Psychiatrist mentioned about upping my dose to 30mg and i panicked, i dread the side effects all over again.

I used to take Sertraline, i was on 200mg of those and i never remember any side effects like these give you! I was just abit drowsy for a week or so while they kicked in.

And thank you for the words of encouragement, i really appreciate it and it is honestly a boost!

Keep strong and please keep us updated on how you go! Take care x
