Feeling so anxious about the EKG results

hi all,
I've been having every possible symptoms of perimenopause since a year now and have got so many tests done now which all came back normal. Yesterday I happened to see some of my EKG results from last year and it has something mentioned other than the sinus tachycardia that got me worried. says atrial enlargement in some of them. I have had multiple EKGs done last year both in ER and once by my pcp. Noone ever told me anything and everytime I was told that it is normal and the palpitations is due to anxiety (I know this is perimenopausal) but I'm wondering why noone followed up on this. my anxiety is through the roof since I found this out and have made an appointment for echocardiogram but I'm so confused why they didn't follow up on this last year in spite of having so many EKGs.
Feeling so so anxious right now that I'm in bed π¦ any thoughts ladiesππ

Out of curiosity do you have high blood pressure? If so that could be a reason if you have no other heart issues.
Mine is enlarged but I have valve issues and also have tachycardia and bradycardia on top of high blood pressure. I've been on beta blocker and high BP meds for years now. My family's gene pool is just awful for heart problems and I won the lottery on them π
Don't stress too much until you know for sure, stress will cause your bp to raise and can make the palpitations worse. Our bodies are going thru so much change at this time that nothing is normal any more.
Hang in there! Sending you positive thoughts and calming energy!!

thank you so much for your reply! my bp has always been in the lower side .I am still confused why they didn't follow up on these. I have tachycardia that started last year when this perimenopause journey started.

Stress is a known trigger for tachycardia as well as anxiety and apparently hormones.. I agree, they should have followed up, but it also could mean absolutely nothing. I have an infarction not aged, meaning they have no idea when it happened or what happened nor do I bc my chest always hurts. last Dec my neighbor called EMS bc I passed out, the ekg the medics did was very bad but the 20 min to the hospital and their ekg were totally different but my heart rate was 186 and blood pressure was 192/129, no reason for it, I was watching TV. They did an ekg every 30 min, tested my heart enzymes every 2 hours, hooked up to all kinds of stuff and nothing was found except my usual leaky valves and the tachycardia, spent 14 hours in the emergency room. My heart doc fitted me for a heart monitor and wore it for 2 weeks, they discovered the bradycardia, my lowest heart rate was 32 beats per minute and highest 155 while sleeping. No rhyme or reason to it.
Please don't stress yourself out unless they tell you to! Sometimes there are no answers and its nothing to worry about. And sometimes the ekg's can be wrong or the issue may be "normal" for you.
Please keep me updated on what they find!!
Hugs, prayers and positive vibes coming your way π

hi Gigi, I hope you are doing good. just thought I'd update on the echo test done.
it came back normal thank God. I still get chest pain pressure sternum kind of feeling not sure why! all these plus other symptoms makes me wonder whether it's just perimenopause or something else like MS.
thank you, Priyaπ

I'm so glad your results were normal!! I know my symptoms ramped up when I entered peri about 4 years ago. According to my blood tests I'm post menopause but nothing is easing up! I know how hard it is not to worry about all the freaky stuff thats happening but talk to your doc if you need to and try not to let your mind run into that mine field of what if its this or that. Our hormones are powerful and as they SLOWLY, soooo slowly fizzle out we're living in an alien body.
I try to remember every woman before us has went through this and survived, we can too, my mantra is "This too shall pass".
Every day is a new symptom for me, some new mysterious ache or pain. I finally get my test results from my endocrinologist on the 12th, hopefully she has answers to some of these issues that I'm not so sure is menopause.
Thank you for the update! Try not to stress!

Please update me your results ,I hope and pray that your endo has only good results to convey. I hear you about new symptoms everyday. that's my life story too. I think one of the biggest issues during this time is stress and anxiety and if that can be controlled lot of other symptoms will get better too, sigh!!
I've been trying some homeopathic medicines for the anxiety lately that helps. take care and please update meβ€π

Palpitations are due to hormonal changes, after the birth of my last daughter I had them non stop for 2 weeks, then all of the sudden nothing. Now after 3 yrs of this nightmare, they started again and they are worse some months than others, really bad during ovulation. I've just learned to live with them, maybe one day they'll just go away.

It's a weird phenomenon. My husband's heart will go wonky and last for hrs, he gets dizzy and had passed out before. Went to cardiologist had all test ran, came back clean. Dr just said we don't know why this happens. All they want is to give pills, that have more side effects. No one knows any answers.

hi Beth, yes palpitations seems to be pretty common in perimenopause, I'm worried about the pain that I have along with that. it is reassuring to get the test results normal but there is always a fear when it happens π¦

I believe I started peri in late 2018 aged 43, one of my main symptoms was Tachycardia, fast forward to now and I still have it at least once a day, it's now end of 2021, I had every test under the sun, ecg, ultrasound, ct all of heart nothing found, I just ignore it as much as I can now as every doctor kept telling me I wasn't in perimenopause but I disagree as another symptom of late that I have never experienced in my life is pubic pain along with all the other usual weird and wonderful stuff, hope this helps as I two had never suffered from sinus tachycardia before.
