Feeling unwell on Sertraline

Hi all, this is my first posting on the subject of the anti-depressant sertraline.

I was prescribed sertraline having confessed to my GP that I was getting very depressed when watching news items, that was 9 months ago, after about 5 months I felt much better and decided to come off it, I did that very slowly, as advised by my GP over telephone.

However, news items recently brought back my depression, and so since I still had some sertraline 50mg tablets left over from earlier, I decided to start taking it again, by cutting the 50mg tablets down in half, as advised by the pharmacist. I am now on my 7th. day, and feel terrible. very depressed, and as if I am loosing my mind, also, I am constantly wanting to visit the toilet. Should I go back to GP does anyone think, or should I just wait it out, I am almost afraid to take another 25mg tomorrow, Any advice please, By the way, I am Mr Mac, aged 77.

Hi Mr Mac, when you first took Sertraline did you experience any side effects? If not then I think a visit to your GP would be a good idea as something is wrong!

Hope you get it sorted soon.

Many thanks to Blu02 and jon99395 for taking the trouble to reply to my recent posting re. starting on sertraline once more.Yes it is Mister. Mac, my wife has also used this forum regarding a completly different condition, she has found it a really great help, in fact she has gone back to he GP and told her just what she had learnt here, and fair play to GP, she took it all on board, so, there you go, talk must help, as for me, it's off to see the GP to-morrow. thanks again
