Feeling very under the weather

So, yesterday, I thought that I may have an influenza virus. But the main problem is a cough, which is quite chesty, but I do get bouts of coughing with a "whoop" sound between each bout. I actually had whooping cough in 2013. Is it possible to have it again, or could it be the body remembering how to whoop.

I am asthmatic but I don't usually have audible issues with it, unless I am wheezy with a chest infection.
