Helen you have done the right thing yes... I am proof of that, i was so ill last year and well u know how bad we feel with this, IT TOOK ME 6-7 WEEKS to feel the benefits and I had upped 10mg to 20mg with no side effects at all but it is a rough road to get there but i promise you will get back to normal again and its the best feeling, I am on 40mg now since July in which i had no side effects going from 20mg - 40mg, 10mg is really only a starting amount so I would say for you and hearing how you have side effects now anyway that increasing wont make you any worse, remember we are all different and it takes our bodies time to adjust to the Citalopram but it does work. so have a think about it see how bad I was last October on thread 'Anyone NOT had any side effects on Citalopram? .... lots of folk on that thread in exactly the same place as you, I found it so helpful when I was bad, so stay strong and persevere you will be well again.

    Hi Helen

Its perfectly normal to have blips along the way.  Always seems to be 2 steps forward, 3 steps back.  I remember my journey was the from awful side effects which eased eventually to a clam feeling, then happy, and then suddenly a black day or 2.  The calm, happy and black days continued until I had no more black days.

It can take up to 8 weeks plus to feel the benefits of this medication, and sometimes even after months of feeling great you might get a sudden blip.  Just accept it's part of recovery, move forward and wait for your body to heal.
