Feeling zoned out again

Hi All,

I’ve been on 50mg of sertraline now for 4 months, for health anxiety and depression I had really bad side effects for the first few weeks but after that I started to feel a lot better in my self. I felt a lot calmer but still abit zones out for about another month then I felt back to normal. The last two weeks I’ve been feeling really zoned out again, the only changes I’ve made is adding zinc and probiotics into my diet, the sertraline I have also been prescribed this time has changed brand. I’ve been eating a lot better and exercising a lot more regularly which I thought would Help as-well as sticking to a Daily routine and a good sleep routine. I was just wondering if anyone had had a similar experience after taking the drug for a while?

Hi there, i had bad sides effects for 2-3 weeks. I felt extremely sick and anxious for the first few weeks . that did start to were off but i did feel spaced out for another month or so. Everyone reacts differently to drugs and they do say it takes at least 6 weeks for your body to get used to them but it can take longer. I would leave of for another few weeks and if your still not feeling right go back and see you GP as sertraline might not be the best option for you. I hope this helps 😃

    hi

changing brands really affected me . I just got to a stage on 50mg that i felt better then after getting my new prescription it was like i went back to day one again and felt awful for another 2 +weeks until i got used to them . My advice would be stick to the same brand always .

    Hope this helps .

      Hi,

Thankyou for the advice, the issue is i have to get a re persciption every 28 days so if i go to the phamarcy they just give me whatever brand they have in stock. I will go back and see my GP and ask if she can pescribe me a few months worth so i have continuity. I thought that might be the reason as i have been feeling fine for 3 months then as soon as i started the new brand just under two weeks ago ive started to feel very spaced out and disasocitaed again.

      Thanks Again 😃

i went back to my gp and got him to tell the pharmacy to keep me on the same brand which he has done . Sometimes they try to give me a different brand until i complain and they suddenly find they have what i need .

What brand did you have and what are you on now ?

I got prescribed the brand KRKA but the pharmacy gave me a very cheap brand called Accord, saying it is the exact same thing. I had horrible side effects from these and they were hard to swallow and easily stuck in the mouth or throat. I split my pills when upping my dose to get the correct dosage, but later I read that with some brands you can't be sure that the distribution of Sertraline is even across the whole pill. So you might end up getting different doses every day. The composition of the pills are manufactured differently for each brand so It will get digested by your system in different ways, and it's not weird to expect that this will affect our bodies and minds.

I switched to KRKA since that was the brand my psych had recommended and after a while I started to feel better. The pills were larger and easier to swallow.

After a month I ran out of supply but I still had a few Accord left so I took them and I immediately felt horrible again. Since then I talked to my Psych and she changed the prescription so that the pharmacy is not allowed to change the brand.

As far as I read Aurobindo is Indian company with an infamous reputation, I would stay away from that. Accord is also owned by Indian company. KRKA is made in Europe and the consensus locally where I live is that this brand gives the least side effects of the generics.
