Feelings after dialysis.

Hi. Well I've now started dialysis.

Do not know why I was so scared, maybe it was the unknown.

Anyway I have a question around the feeling afterwards. Wednesday was my first session and didn't feel normal till Saturday. Did my second session yesterday (3hours) and I just feel drunk, think that's the best way to describe it.

Is this normal??

    Dear Bryan.

I have heard that first few rounds are difficult, and have to do it more frequently. Then it will become normal, and last abit long, with less side effects. My brother in law is going through this and he is in his 6 months, and doing all blood work for a transplant.

    Hope this help!

    Hi Bryan

Is it haemo you've started? This can be normal but I think you need to be cautious too. I felt like that on a few occasions when I came off. I told the nurses and they advised me to do another standing and sitting BP. If you feel drunk there is a chance they're taking too much fluid off you. Mind you when I started I was only getting 500ml off me but the less I peed the more fluid I got taken off. Just be sure to speak to the staff about every wee niggle you experience. It may be nothing to you but it could be something to them.

Good luck mate hope this helps

Thanks Stephen. I'm passing normally so they aren't taking any fluids off me.

My blood pressure was high but won't do anything as I have clinic on Tuesday so I'll speak to my consultant.

Bryan. It is good to hear your positive feelings with hemo. Not every second day as yet. I do hope you begin to feel better.

    Good luck

Hi John. They are building me up to 4hours sessions.

It is daunting at first as it's the unknown but it's actually just boring more than anything else.

Advice to anyone, take something to do. Watch films read a book. Anything to break the bordom.

I don't think I've ever gone 4 hours without a toilet break. I'm going to be terrible on dialysis.
