Dear Alison, I really feel for you in your struggle against anxiety and depression.  Hopefully your health provider will be able to offer you some hope either through talking about your fears or maybe to offer you medication, or both.  I was lucky enough to be offered a course in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy after being depressed and anxious after leaving hospital where I had been treated for a prolonged manic attack. For what it's worth I have found Lithium and a small dose of anti-psychotic medication to be of enormous help in managing the mood-swings.  I still get down, but the CBT course has helped me realise that depressive and untoward thoughts can be acknowledged and then quietly asked to leave me alone.  I don't know about you Alison, but I have a tendency to 'beat myself up'  which is a lifelong habit I am trying to break.  I try to enjoy small triumphs - for example today I have potted on 72 seedlings.  Whatever you do, try to give yourself credit.  You are worth it.  Good luck with your consultation.

    Dear Alison,

I'm suffering for over 20 years now (I'm bipolar). Last week I tried to commit suicide and now I m in mania again (I' ve done 2 workouts today and I m  gonna staart my 3rd soon then I ll go running in the evening - it's like i m on amphetamines or something...).

I don't trust doctors or meds ( we could discuss why in private).

All I can say to you is start taking long walks in nature, as long as able. Spend half of your free time on those walks...

    Good luck!
