I had a dizziness attack three months ago. Since I also felt noise in my ears I visited an ENT Specialist. He advised me to take Serc 24 mg twice a day. It worked . Now I feel dizziness and balance problem only whem I walk and move head to left side. I have consulted 3 neuro physician, 2 ENT Specialist and one arthopedic surgeon but could not get help. My MRI and blood tests are normal but x-rays of neck show mild degeneration of c6 and c7. Can someone help me please as I am unable to walk outside for longer time.

2. How often do episodes happen and how long do they last for?
3. Does the room spin in these episodes or do you just feel lightheaded?
4. Have any of the doctors said what they think the diagnosis is?

Hi Arshadou,
I agree with the thinking of another poster on here - that it sounds as if you might possibly have BPPV (displaced crystals in inner ear) and that if so, the Epley manoeuvre is the cure for this. However, the Epley is specific for posterior canal BPPV and won't help at all for vertigo due to other causes.
In fact, I'd strongly advise against trying the Epley yourself without medical supervision. A few people get away with it and are helped by it, but you're more likely to make things much worse, albeit only on for a day or so. The Epley should only be performed by an experienced practitioner, or under the supervision of one.
If you really want to try a manoeuvre, google the half-somersault. This one is also specific for BPPV, but is less likely than the Epley to make things worse. However, I have to say that when I had BPPV, even the half-somersault manoeuvre just made me feel sick for half an hour or so each time I tried it, without producing positive results. I was eventually cured when a vestibular physiotherapist performed the Epley.
I'd also be interested to see the answers to Ben's questions, which are highly pertinent.
