They said I still had a lot of wasted muscle and need to build it up they said I could drive but when I get into my car I feel like I've got a large lump on my buttock / hip I've been told this is normal but still not been explained what it is . Any one else got or has had this as it's really uncomfortable.

Yep 😂😂😂 feels like I'm sat on a small rugby ball 😱. Iv read that's quite normal I'm afraid. Muscle wastage happens within days of not using them . Make sure your doing all your exercises, regularly. ??????Unbelievably important ??????Go to your physiotherapist he/she will be able to give you more specific exercises and help you regain strength. Hi well done good news from Consultant.

Yes that lump I had and still have its your new hip and all the bruising, swelling and healing.

Major op so time and some gentle exercise is the healer. It will get better and less noticeable. Mine has and lessens every day.

Had new right hip 29th June 2016.

Keep going it all takes time.

I had no idea what it was, I was just glad it went away !

That's the old 'Sitting on a golf ball' feeling ... welcome to the post hippie blues.

I had muscle wastage due to losing over 70 pounds (5 stone).  My rear-end is not so padded any more.  Having the operation just over a year ago, I have progressed from sitting on 'golf balls' to having a 'lamp-post' inside my backside !

The only answer is more and more muscle building exercises to gain muscle tone.
