Feels like i've swallowed a brick! Extreme indigestion and wind

Hello, I'm new to this but would like some help or advice.

I have been suffering now for over half a year and on and off for years. I have an appointment for an gastroenterologist although that appointment is 2!!!! months away!!! so would like help in the mean time.

i do not go to the toilet regularly at all, i am always constipated, when i do go- it is diarrhea. I can't remember the last time i normally went to the toilet. The constipation results in constant bloating, i feel disgusting.

I don't eat an excess of unhealthy foods, i am not overweight, i eat healthy, drink water, do everything ok except for the fact that i smoke- (i dont know if thats relevant???)

Occasionally (4 times so far) i wake up with the worst sensation. It starts off feeling like normal indigestion (which i get very often anyway) yet after about 10 minutes it honestly feels like i have swallowed a large brick and its sitting underneath my boobs/in the middle of my stomach, it feels like burning and it is so uncomfortable, the feeling rises up into my throat at times too and i'm often sick because of it although the sick is just bile or really thick substance.

I suffer from terrible (really really smelly) wind as well and holding it in results in bad pain.

I was wondering if anyone has experienced the same?

Hi, I can't offer any advice about your symptoms as I suffered with gallbladder and although that causes all sorts of digestion and bowel issues for some of us it may not be that, although it could be, doing the best thing getting it all checked out. The only thing I would suggest is to contact the gastro secretary and ask her to let you know if they get a cancelation as you are desperate. Good luck.

    GERD.

..... possibly complicated by a hernia.

Give up smoking and eat only small portions of food no closer than four hours before you go to bed, preferably nothing after 5 in the evening. Try a course of zantac 150mg at night. abandon raw fruit and veg. stick to white bread.

It might be a good idea to have an ultrasound scan to check if yu have gallstones. To begin with one GP was not sure if I had gallstones or IBS so the symptoms can obviously be similar. I hjad ultrasound scan which confirmed i had gallstones. I am now waiting to have my gallbladder removed.

Hope all goes OK with you

Thank you Sarah, were your symptoms similar to mine?

I always considered IBS as being the issue but never gallstones so thank you, i will see what the doctor says on my hospital appt.

No my symptoms were not exactly like yours. I too had a combination of constipation and then diarhoea when I did manage to go. Other symptoms were bad stomach cramps (colic) and pain in my right side.

It felt like there was still something in my bowel that needed to be got rid of.

Hope you manage to sort this out.

      Keep in touch

I am up most nights with stomach cramps, and a burning sensation which i guess is some sort of extreme indigestion.

      Did you experience bloating too?

Thank you very much for your help,

Hi Sarah87162 I am so sorry to hear that you are going through these pains and cant be seen until April (just like myself), but I don't know if you would want to try an herb called Activated Charcoal for the stomach.  It's an herb, so it will not hurt you what ever you may have, but it will take you to the bathroom a few times a day.  But make sure you are sitting on the stool and have a trash can in from of you, because you will go, but also, make sure you drink 10 to 12 glasses of water a day to get the stool out of you system.  Activated Charcoal is not a medicine, it's an herb for poisoning, upset stomach, food poisoning etc. Praying you get an eariler appt with your doctor and for relief from your pain. Only get Activated Charcoal from a health food store or someone that will explain to you what it does for you. It's not expensive either.  Be Blessed with relief.  jay97794
