Hi Donna, some years ago I had a bunion removed from my right big toe joint and some repair work done on the middle toe. Just afterwards I suffered bad pain in my right foot and was eventually told by the podiatrist I had broken the second metatarsal bone. I had suffered the pain for ages going from Doctor to physio, to chiropractic who all said it was just swelling from the op.

These bones are the five bones that make up the forefront of the foot., the big toe being first metatarsal. If you have damage to these bones it will be very, very painful. Surgery should make it easier for you but make sure you are fully informed of all options beforehand. With any foot op there will be considerable time for the healing process.

good luck, there's nothing worse than not being able to get around without pain.

Hello Mary,Thank you for your words of information and encouragement. I.ve had surgery on boh ankles in the past because of calcium deposits in the tendons. Also had toe fused on right foot. Things had been going quite well until 2015 when the right foot pain which i've had for a number of years got so much worse, then to add to that ! my left foot arch has developed a lump which is rather painful when I walk, I have this week been advised i need the lump re moved,

Painful feet are such a Pain !!
