Fell Down On The Top of My Foot, Have Pain

Hey all.  A few days ago when i was sitting on the computer, i got up and then as i made a turn, i had a very awkward fall where i fell down very awkwardly where the top of foot hit the floor very hard.  Like imagine the top of your foot fell straight down on the floor on impact awkwardly.  The floor is also pretty hard.  The left foot there is no issue at all as there is no bump or anything.  However, on the right foot, there is like a decent size red bump on it.  But not only that, the area on the top of my right foot... like right below the toes all the way do the middle of the top of the foot, i have pain there not only when i touch it, but also when i move it.  Such as imagine moving your right foot upwards or downwards or just a bit, there is like this pain that feels like numbness etc.  There doesn't seem to be a bump there though besides the bump right below it right in the middle of the foot.

So when im walking, i cannot walk like how i normally walk because of the slight pain.  The pain/numbness is not very painful where i cannot walk.  But its just very uncomfortable to walk.  Like there is being weight put on the top of the right foot.

I put some manuka honey on it and am trying to not walk that much anymore.  Does anyone know what else i can do?  I use manuka honey because i read its great for healing.  But would it work for this?  Because im not sure what to put on it.  Is it possible i broke something or not?  Because i could still walk but i have to do it in a way where you could see that im walking not normally etc.  There does not seem to be a big bruise.  The bump that i have right on the middle of a foot looks like a medium size pimple.  Thats probably the best i could describe it.  But the pain/discomfort is basically from right below my toes to the middle of my right top foot.

Would i need to see a doctor or get xray?  Would i need to see those specialist who do those reflex tests when checking your body etc?  So what should i not do now?  Basically limit walking?  Also i normally wear slippers when inside my apartment.  Should i walk without it and just walk barefoot?  Because if i wear slippers, well the inside part of the slipper touches the top of the right foot etc.  I can post picture if im allowed to?  Also does anyone know if this could be a possible condition with foot injury etc?  And what should i do?

Thanks.

On the top right foot area, i mentioned that there doesn't seem to be a bruise. Well that area seems to be just a red but not that red.  Thus there is no purple bruise or anything like that.  But that area from right under the toe area to the middle of the foot... when im walking, there seems to be lot of weight put on it when i walk.  So does anyone know what that means?

Also my left leg kneecap, i just noticed there is a bruise there.  when i touch it, its a bit painful.  I had forgot that i fell on my left kneecap because i was more concerned about the top of my right foot.  Do you guys have advice for the bruised kneecap?  Manuka honey on it would be fine as i will be doing that on it from now on?

Also the pimple mark on the top right side of the foot that i mention... the small area right below it, there is definitely a bit of pain there as well.  Does anyone have any advice on what i can do/do not do?  I actually had to do a lot of walking yesterday because i had to do grocery shopping.  But i will not do much walking now on and wondering what i should do here.  Should i put ice on it now or not since its already been 48 hours etc.  I did not put any ice on it immediately.  I just put manuka honey on it and lot of it.

Does anyone have any advice?  I also noticed recently the area right below my toes have pain as well.  Im pretty certain i did not have pain there previously.  When i went out and tried to walk a few blocks, i noticed that i had to stop every few steps because i could not walk that straight as i was basically limping.  Does anyone have any advice on what i can do here?

I also noticed my hand area like right below my thumb like between the wrist and my dumb area, there is pain especially when you touch it or move it.

Does this mean my foot and hand have a stress fracture?  On the top of my right foot, there is like a little bruise/bump there very small.  I read that is example of stress fracture?  What i can do at home to heal it?  Would manuka honey be good?  Im currently just putting a lot of it over the area that there is pain/discomfort.  Should i get some epsom salt or could that make it possibly worst?  The thing is where im located at, a bone doctor i want see here... he won't be here until another week.  But you guys should suggest i should definitely see him right?  Its been a little bit less than 2 weeks that this happened.  So right now im concerned about my right foot as i couldnt walk without limping and having to stop and the area on my left hand as there is pain/discomfort.

Hey all anyone have advice on this?  I just googled foot stress fracture pictures and im pretty certain this is what i have.  I read that you are suppose to buy one of those boots?  So wearing those boots would work?  What if you just stay inside the house/apartment and walk around with slippers or barefoot?

Also would epsom salt be good idea?  However, my fall happened a bit less than 2 weeks ago.  Can anyone here offer me advice?

Something similar happened to me last week where I fell off a stool and twisted my leg underneath me so the top of my foot was crushed against the hard floor. It swelled and bruised almost immediately, and it was extremely painful to bend my foot or try to stand/walk on it. I spent four days resting it at home with an ice pack on it (the walk-in centre initially told me it was probably a bruise or a sprained ankle) but it didn't improve, so I went to hospital and found out I've fractured three of the metatarsal bones in the top of my foot! Thankfully it was a stable break with no dislocations or displacements so they think it'll heal without surgery, but I've got to wear one of those big moon boots and hop about on crutches until mid-April, and it hurts like an absolute b*stard currently.

So yes, I would advise you to head to the nearest A+E or minor injuries unit to get it examined, especially if you've already had the injury for a couple of weeks. They'll have a look at any swelling/bruising on your foot, check where it hurts and give you an X-ray to see if it's fractured. There's a chance it could just be bruised rather than broken in which case you'll probably still need it to be bandaged up for a while to help with the pain/swelling, and if it is fractured you don't want to keep walking on it and making it even worse! Best of luck to you.

Hey there.  I went and saw a trauma doctor where im located and told them the situation.  They said it doesn't look like a stress fracture and said it was the tendinitis of the extensors.  They asked if i wanted to do an xray and at first i thought about it but then i read people say it doesn't show up for at least 3 weeks minimum.  So it was 2.5 weeks for me when i saw him and i figured well there might not even be a stress fracture etc.  He said he doesn't think there is but said i could do an xray but i didn't.

So you had xray done and it showed the fracture right?  My thoughts were even if its a fracture, there isn't anything that would most likely be done for it right?  You say you are put in a moon boot and crutches.  So you are doing that now for a while then?  So how long before you went to see the doctor?  Also is it basically impossible for you to walk without any pain?  Could you walk thought without any crutches.  The thing is the pain i have seemed to gotten better and i had mentioned this to the doctor.  He said if it seems to be better, then most likely im fine.  But he said if it keeps getting worst, then thats different.

What do you mean if its bruised, you need it bandaged?  Can you explain that?  Could i do that myself?

I saw the doctor not that long ago but i didn't do the xray mainly because i had read maybe 2.5 weeks, it won't show up on the xray etc and because it seemed to get a bit better then i figure there wasn't a point.

Also when you say its swelling and bruised, do you mean it was very discolored?

Do you have pain if you sit on a chair or lie on your bed?

The thing with me was if i was lying on the bed, there wasn't much pain but the moment i bend/stretch the top of my right foot, i got pain but it wasn't a lot of pain.  It was more like discomfort pain.  But the reason why i went there was because when i walking, i couldn't walk that much and had to stop every few steps etc.  Also if what you had with your fall meant a lot of pain now and you had a fracture that didn't require surgery, well most likely i probably wouldn't need it right even if i had a fracture?  I asked the trauma doctor like would i need to be in a walking boot or crutches and he pretty much said no i wouldn't.  But if it did show a fracture, then maybe he would say so?  He said the fact that it seemed to be improving meant that most likely im fine.

Yes, I had an X-ray done and it showed the fractures. It's weird that they didn't do any scans for you - maybe go back and get a second opinion? Even if the bone isn't broken it could be bruised (which is apparently deeper and hurts more than a regular skin bruise, so you might need crutches or a splint to walk without pain). Based on what you've said it could also be a sprain, which still hurt and take a while to heal so it's odd they haven't given you any bandages or mobility aids in the meantime.

Mine isn't super painful as long as I don't move or stand on the injured part of my foot (before I was put in the boot I could hobble on my heel but couldn't put weight on the rest of my foot), although it usually throbs a little bit and sometimes aches when I haven't moved my leg in a while. I'm supposed to be non-weight bearing until I can stand on the foot without pain but I have accidentally put weight on it a couple of times and it really hurts! I think if your foot is healing already and it doesn't look oddly-shaped it's highly unlikely they'll want to operate (they usually don't do it unless it's displaced or dislocated, which you'd probably be able to see from looking at your foot).

Hey there.  Well the thing was the doctor did recommended it but i didn't do it mainly because i read online that it doesn't show up in xray for at least 3 weeks minimum or even longer and he agreed somewhat.  Also i had to pay myself but the cost was not that much but i thought even doctor did xray, then what would the doctor do for it then.  Because he said i would not need any crutches or walking boot so i figure even if there was something, well i probably would still do the same thing right?

If you don't put in a walking boot or anything, could you walk in your apartment though?  Or there is always pain etc.

When you said you put weight on your foot... what do you mean by that exactly?  So you are telling me if you do not wear a walking boot but let say you just stay in bed to recover, that would still work but longer?
