Felodipine 1st day - low grade headache

Posted , 4 users are following.

1st day - low grade headache, slightly swollen ankles/feet

3rd day - full of energy, hard to stop, red face

6th day - late afternoon, hot feet followed by badly swollen legs/ankles/feet and extremely red rash on lower legs.

7th day - stopped medicine by Doctor when shown legs.

For last 3 days, legs/ankles/feet very swollen and lower legs bad with red rash. Swollen areas on legs are hard and v. hot. Trying to treat with Calomine lotion.

Blood pressure had come down and felt fantastic energy wise, but side effects are gruesome.

I know this posting is from 2 years ago now but I am hoping for other people to let me know if they have had similar experiences.

I have had a wee bit ill health for a couple of months now and all I have left are the swollen legs and ankles (furosemide did not help). I have been taking felodipine for a fair while now with no real problems. However, my GP yesterday said that it is the likely cause of the swelling and is changing my medication to an ACE inhibitor called Lisinopril.

    Any comments greatly appreciated!

I feel bloated fat red faced and have a bad 'itch' on my lower legs - dont think its connected but I seem to have vague moments (Im 50) never seem to need sleep unless I have a glass of wine (only one will do it)

60 Year old Male, been on Felodopine for about 3 years. Glad!! to hear someone is experiencing the same problems as me. Swollen legs which feel solid (if that makes sense), rash, which flares up every few weeks. Very itchy at times. Going back to Doctor, I had previously been back and was sent to a specialist who prescribed Dermovate cream, which does work is reducing the rash, did unhappy at using it often as it is a steroid based cream.

I WAS GIVEN FELODOPINE, HAD PERSISTANT HEADACHE FOR TWO DAYS AND THEN EXPERIENCED CONTINUOUS ANGINA TYPE PAIN FOR TWO DAYS. MY DOCTOR TOOK ME STRAIGHT OFF THEM. I WAS ALREADY ON BENZOFLUMETHIAZIDE FOR BLOOD PRESSURE. FELT BETTER AFTER GETTING OFF THEM.

 For several years I was taking Felodipine 2.5mg and felt fine, but then my doctor decided as my bp was 145/76 I should go on to 5mgs. That was in March this year, for the first few months everything was fine. Then in June I started getting joint pain, sweats, swollen ankles (hard to the touch) and feeing very tired. So I stopped taking the felodipine and felt great, ankles back to normal, no joint pain, no sweats, but blood pressure started creeping back up and when I went for a health check at the Nuffield before going to their gym, my Bp was 199/111 pulse 72. So started on 5mgs felodipine again. Now have very swollen ankles, buzzing in ears, joint pain, headaches, but Bp now 116/74 pulse 73 and temp 35.9. So what next?
