    Hi Scotland

I am 6 weeks on cit and was like yourself horrible side effects and after a few weeks I felt great then my first period I was awful had horrible anxiety and fear and low at some points of the day! It went away a day or two after my period was finished and now I'm a few days into pmt and having some bad parts of the day but not as bad as the start! Sounds like pmt a reason I went on cit but I suppose it's still early days also and it's a hard stressful time of year! I too can be hard on myself and it's so easy! I have a discussion on today also some good advice! Try and think positive and tell your self it's the period hormones and Xmas! It could still be side effects of the drug also! Big hugs and hope you feel better soon!

    All the best

Without depression..What is your mood like normally around your period? I know around mine,I'm a little more sensitive, tired and emotional.

Now I have depression..my lowest times are around the time of my period also and tend to get better as my period ends.

I wouldn't worry to much Hun. The fact that you felt so great in such a short time on antidepressants is a good thing but it's still early days and you can expect to have the odd few data where you feel you have gone right back to where you started. This isn't the case,it's just the ups and downs of the disorder,it happens to us all from time to time when in early recovery.

Please remember that even people without depression/anxiety gave bad days...they are a normal part of every day life. At the moment,we are still a little vulnerable so are more sensitive to bad days.

Don't beat yourself up for feelin low ..... it's the depression, not you.

After going through the awful side effects your mood will be up and down for a while.  Some days you'll feel great, then slip back to feeling low.  These are just blips and a normal process through recovery.  Accept these blips and they'll pass in their own time.  Gradually the low times will get less and less I til your mood is lifted permanently.

Having these blips is a sure way to tell the medicine is working properly.

I posted a very long post about a week ago about Citralopram - What to Expect.  It details what to expect along the way through recovery on this medicine.  You might be able to fine it under my profile somewhere.

Recovery takes a while, and patience is a great virtue.
