Female High iron of 284, Ferritin at level 8, please explain

Hi! So I've had Crohn's and Depression all my life. I went to my primary on August 1st to restart an antidepressant and she did routine blood work, which said I was very low in Vitamin D and low in iron. She ordered me a prescription for both. I took all the vitamin d but didn't renew. Out of the 30 iron pills, I only took 14 (I would split them in half) because they constipate me. I'm always tired, but I'm a teacher with Crohn's and so it's nothing new. However, I did feel like I became worse in early November.

I went back to my primary on November 24th for a follow up for the antidepressants and routine blood work. We decided to switch antidepressants. Her nurse called me a few days later to tell me that I had low vitamin D again, and that my iron was now at 284 and ferritin at 8, and that they were referring me to a hematologist. My 1st appointment is on December 20th. As a person with a life long illness, I've done my share of internet searching, but this forum is the first time I've read anything about anyone having both High Iron and Low Ferritin.

I don't know my hemoglobin or TS so I can't answer that, but has anyone heard of this and can offer a basic explanation? Thanks in advance.
