The blockage is a symptom, the cause of this is a narrowing of the arteries, which will push up BP as more pressure is required to keep the flow going.

Thank you RHGB, I am wondering if this is the cause of my blood pressure going up and down all the time. I see the vascular doc April 4th to see what they will do.

Jesilu, a blockage of the femoral artery is caused by narrowing of the artery, and one of the risk factors leading to such a blockage is high blood pressure, along with such things as smoking, diabetes and high cholesterol.  If you have any of these risk factors, I assume that your doctor will be treating you accordingly.  I do hope it isn't causing you too much pain in the meantime.

thank you Mrs. O. I am a smoker trying to quit and my doc just put me on cholesteral medication. I have an appointment with a vascular doctor to see how to treat this. From what Im told itd meds or a stent. The pain has gotten worse but only if I am waling, its really weird. Its like the top of my right leg gets fatigued. Hopefully will find out April 4th.

Jensilu, I would guess that you would be more aware of the blockage when walking  rather than when resting as your body will be working hard to try and pump the blood through the blockage to cope with the exercise.  It sounds as though you are being well monitored with being prescribed cholesterol medication, and well done on trying to give up smoking - probably the best thing you will ever do. Good luck with the forthcoming appointment and do let us know how you get on.

We learn something new every day. I had not heard of arteries other than cardiac ones being stented.

My aortic aneurysm was found during a scan on my gall bladder. My aortic stenosis leading to a valve replacement was found during a thorough medical when I was trying to get on the renal denervation programme.
