But that inadvertent slip (which happens to me all the time in this forum) reminds me of advice from a friend who is a nutritionist - you need lots of protein in your diet to help recover properly. As many of us struggle with appetite issues, it is worth repeating this and to encourage all of us to turn to protein shakes if meat, etc turns us off.

Goodness, multiple hip operations - hope that you didn't get my surgeon who messed up my new hip by putting the ceramic socket in at an angle.
I do get odd pains now and again, nothing constant, and certainly not that old OA 'lightning bolt down the leg' feeling.
I do get odd needle pricks in the scar area, and some pain in the front of the thigh at times.
Best wishes
Graham

Yes I can definitely relate to your problem, the first part of this reply I posted a year ago, you will see I am still fighting.
20 months ago I underwent THR at the Royal Orthopeadic Hospital in Birmingham 4 days after discharge I emailed the consultant to say I was in terrible pain ( I had my left hip replacement one year previously so I knew what to expect in pain levels. he saw me 3 weeks later and said it would settle down. He admitted they had trapped the lateral cutaenous nerve which created Meralgia Parasthetica in my thigh but this would go needless to say it hasn't. more seriously having paid to have endless test done privately the surgeon that did my left hip op told me yesterday that my pain is caused by the wrong size implant being used and it is moving in my femur causing all the pain when I try and walk. I am now having CT and ultrasound to prove that diagnosis. If confirmed I will have to have the whole operation done again with more months of rehab. To think prior to this I played golf twice a week climbed to the top of St Paul's cathedral . Needless to say the surgeon that created this has never bothered to contact me since December 2nd . The Royal Orthopeadic Hospital has been useless and don't even bother to reply to my emails and my formal complaint made on 12th December, for anyone going there beware Mr Mc Bryde's web site makes many claims but be very sure you get a second opinion. This op was by direct anterior approach the other methods more common are lateral or posterior which one did you have. My one which involves no muscle cutting no sleeping on your back for 6 weeks, walk in a week, drive in a week, so it seemed a no brainer to choose this approach which is used widely in the US and Australia.
NowJune 2016--- Complete revision op in June 2015 9 day in hosp then Dec2015 another op to decompress lateral cutaneous nerve, my thigh 6 months later is just as sore and painful. Pain in my thigh when walling for only 10 mins is excrutiating I have always said it must be the femoral nerve as my leg gives way when I put weight on it , 7 consultants later endless private tests EMGs MRI's CT scans, ultrasounds and hospital appointments, I have not met one consultant that can say how they can put it right. Today I am off to see the spine surgeon who did my successful spinal fusion in 2012 to eliminate the problem is not coming from my back.
Good Luck Amy keep fighting hopefully we will both get it solved, if I get any info I think helpful I will post it here,
Best wishes
Paul
