Femoral nerve impingement and wear and tear found in MRI

Posted , 3 users are following.

I have been having problems with my left leg for quite a while now but it has been getting worse. Had pain in groin thigh side of calf etc. Physio failed in fact trying to stretches set my back off. I am taking 1 zapain which is 4 times a cocodamol first thing with 1 cocodamol. 2 cocodamol at lunchtime then 1 with paracetamol tea time. 2 paracetamol at bedtime

cannot walk far without having to sit which eases the pain. Standing is worse.

Have been given Gabapentin for nerve pain, just starting on 2 a day for second week. Hoping they will work for me till I see consultant later in July.

Thanks for reading

Jean

    Hi Jean,

I'm sorry to hear about the pain that you're in It does sound like you have nerve impingement. Does the pain run down your leg or down your buttock into your leg? Mine runs down my buttock around my knee and down to the outside of my foot: I think that's actually the sciatic nerve, which is why they call this condition sciatica.

Once my disc ruptured and my entire spinal cord was pinned, the pain was so excruciating. I couldn't stand for any length of time whatsoever. We didn't know that my spinal cord was pinned until I had surgery (2007). My entire leg would just ache from the inside out. It would ache like a toothache, and it would just get worse every second that I stood. When I sat down, the pain would subside. So, as long as I stayed sitting, I was good.

Now, my legs will just jump at random, but only while I'm sitting. I'm guessing it's probably the scarring on my actual spinal cord because it was left pinched for about three months while I waited for surgery.

I have the Amazing Obamacare and my insurance won't allow me to have the MRI my doctor ordered, so, I guess we won't know what's going on for some time.

I will keep you in my prayers Jean, please keep me up to date on your progress.

    God Bless

Thank you for your reply Chewy.

According to my doctor it i s not the sciatic nerve but the one above it. Does your sciatica affect the groin area or the back of the knee. I suppose I will have to wait to see what the neuro people say at my appointment. Just about to take my pain relief at the moment. I have been on steroids for another condition and they want them reduced They helped the pain before so fingers crossed. Today is reduce day for this month .

      Thank you again
